Yes they have Pau,Kobe,Artest + Odom ,but they didn't adress their biggest need, speed at the PG position......

2 years ago Rondo abused Fisher, last year Brooks abused Fisher . I don't see Shanon brown as the stopper most think he is , he is not very good. Fisher is a great clutch shooter and leader ,but he is really old and will get abused by just about any PG in the west .

Their bench is still awful with Sasha vuja**** , Walton , Brown ,  farmar and Odom. Odom is the only one on their bench that really contirbutes.

Let's just hope the C's make the finals so the can expose the lakers lack of depth.

They're still the favorites in the West.  They didn't have to make a deal.

Sure, they could've made a run at Hinrich or someone else but when I'm thinking of losers in regards to the trading deadline, the Lakers don't come to mind and they're certainly not the "biggest" one.

It should be interesting watching them go against Denver and Houston in the playoffs.

What is amazing to me is that the Lakers are this bad and yet have lost only 13 games this year  ::)

I am not saying they are bad , they are defending champs. I just don't see them being so far above the rest of the league like the national media makes it out. They definitely have weaknesses and I wouldn't be shocked if they don't get by denver in the West.

I'm definitely pulling for the Mavs, Nuggets, and Jazz.  All my hopes for something other than a Kobe vs LeBron Finals this year rest with those three teams.

The Lakers didn't need to make a trade + nobody other contender made a large enough move to over-take them. They lost nothing on trade deadline day.

If anything, they were winners because Dallas failed to trade Dampier for another impact player + San Antonio failed to find any suitable trades + Denver weren't able to make a move that improved them and neither were Utah/Phoenix and the others.

The Lakers grip on the West was solidified today because of other teams failures.

Why is that surprising? Read some posts (even some of yours) and then figure out why the Celts aren't a lottery team. Now *that's* amazing.

Hey if the C's can rally and finish the year 22-9, they will have grabbed 55 wins. Not freaking bad considering the injuries

In other words they'll only have to play about 3x as well as they have for the past 2 months.

Well put.

The earlier post sounded like a wishful thinking post.

There is no pleasing the fans who are fixated on being respected/disrespected since this is based on subjective interpretation.

Clearly the Lakers and Cavs should be considered the 2 best teams at this point. Seeing how the Lakers have been winning with Kobe sidelined makes criticisms of their depth seem questionable.

Sadly, but truly, the Lakers would win the championship this year without Kobe. They are much better than us. Kills me to say this, but is reality.
