How can any team that took Jared Jeffries be called a winner at this year's deadline?  Yuck.

Houston got Martin and a pile of crap.  They gave up a rebounder and hustle guy who makes 40% of what Martin made.  And Sac got out from under Martin's deal by basically exchanging that deal for the expiring Larry Hughes.

I'll say it again: no one ever gets rich trading with Geoff Petrie.

I think the Celtics did just fine considering where they are and who they had to deal.  I think Nate is going to be an upgrade at #2 PG and we will end up with an upgrage at back-up SF because Daniels will play that position.

Also, we have 2 roster spots to use to snag a buyout.  I am not expecting much more but maybe a little something.

Unless we could figure out a way to trade Scal for a new knee for KG, we were not going to meaninfully upgrade the team on the fly.

Bottom feeding won't produce a championship this time around.

I agree, but that is why I said it is all about KG's knee.  We have a chance even if all we get is another complimentary piece off the scrap heap if KG comes back.

If KG doesn't, even getting Amare and Martin for Ray and whatever wouldn't have mattered.

it's just about money, like everything else in the NBA is these days. why do you care if the owner of the rockets pays a guy like jeffries to get an excellent young player who fits a need and a bunch of picks? houston has been is serious need of a creater not named brooks.

i like landry too but the deal is a no brainer.

In a not related story...i'm happy that today's game begins so late (1h30 am in Brazil). After this empty day of trades, full of frustration, i really cannot handle view our team be destroyed by the Kobe-less Fakers..

Winners
1. Dallas-Butler and Haywood along with Dirk and Kidd should be great
2. Houston-Brooks, Martin, Ariza, Scola, pretty good offensive lineup
3. Charlotte-Thomas should mix well with Wallace and others young guys
4. Cleveland-Lamison is what they needed.

Losers
1. Phoenix-If they don't keep Amare after this season and get nothing in return
2. Miami-Just made Wade leave
3. Spurs-old team stayed old
4. Clippers-oh wait, they always losers

wait and see
1. Celtics-Nate will help but needed a big man..also like getting Almond
2. Grizzlies-see above
3. Magic-did nothing but will it help or hurt
4. Nuggets-see above

C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I agree sspence.
This really positions them for the next few years.

It also allows Ariza to focus solely on doing what he does best - defending and spotting up for the occasional 3 - he's no longer one of the go-to scorers on that team. They needed a offensive perimeter threat, and they definitely got one.

It's a great move for them, I wanted KevMart here - ppl like to try to devalue him, but he's a straight up shooter and scorer. And he already knows Rick Adelman's system - it will be a good fit. (Go to Sac's and Houston's SBNation blogs, you'll def get the real feel of what this trade means).

And Jordan Hill is a top 10 draft pick, unfortunately for him, he landed on the NY Knicks where no one knows a donkey from rat. Adelman is a solid coach and I think he can get the best out of him.
