I also think Gerald Green is a player in this league. Doc just never gave him a fair shot. We need a spark off the bench and Gerald is the way to do it. Vet minimum signing? Or, we could go with more veteran experience with Antoine Walker, but that's really up to Danny. It's an embarrassment of riches on the scrap heap.

Yes but what you don't realize is Powe (while out for the year) could have been spark that the C's are in so desperate need of.  He could have sat in that empty spot and we could have debated why the Medical staff wasn't doing their best to get him out there.  We then could have commented about how last year when he came back to play that 1 min in the Chicago game before completely blowing his knee out again for the 4th time he did it because of how much he cared and juxtapose it against how KG dealt with his knee injury last season.  There would have been so many reasons to bring him back to sit in that empty spot.

Not to sound like a broken record, but we needed roster flexibility...... to have 2 empty roster spots, not including marcus 'don't call me carl' landry? He would have essentially been a deadline addition -- one we could have used, especially if we wanted to use Baby to boost a potential trade. Shame on the Cs.

Can we at least see if leon is ever the same on the court after his FOURTH major knee surgery before age 25 to pass judgment?

Talk about putting the cart before the horse, man hasn't even played yet.

He's 26. And no. Not when we have 3 empty / useless roster spots. We've seen him play, we know who he is.

Whatever, I appreciate why folks are frustrated by the topic. I'll leave it alone.

This is a hilarious post.

I am assuming that this is tongue in cheek.

The best part is, other sports blogs talk about Leon as a key role player for the 2007-2008 Celtics title team.

He almost never played in the playoffs, just wasn't part of the rotation. Just like he wasn't part of the rotation for much of the year.

I love Leon put people over state what he really did while with the C's. Its even bled over to NBA fans of other teams.

Shelden Williams > Leon

I love Leon, but he isn't anything to cry about.  Shoot, he hasn't even played this year and his knees are straight jelly.  Next year at this time he'll be sitting on a bench, awaiting another surgery.   Its unfortunate, but he wasn't blessed with Kevin Mchale joints.

sheldon williams is not better than anyone. he is not better than leon powe with a torn acl.

your right, they are equal.

Guys who  rebound well and are incredibly overvalued because of their "hustle"

Leon just gets the employee #8 treatment because he was a fan favorite.

We'll have even one more roster spot once we waive Landry, no?

looked ok in this game. his lack of consistent playing time is because of doc. when he was on the floor, he always contributed. i know others like to mock, but I agree with the OP.

No, you don't know who he is.

You know who he was before this latest knee injury. and even then he was overvalued to an extreme here.

I really like leon, and i hope he has a long career, but outside of being a fan favorite, his skill set really isn't that impressive, less so now with yet another major injury to his knee at a young age.

P.s, he turned 26 recently, when he blow out his knee for the fourth time last year, he was 25.

Except in game 5 of the Finals when he started for Perkins and gave the C's NOTHING.

I love Powe and he can definitely play. But he wasn't a key member of that squad. Nor did he really deserve much more playing time than he got.

yeah, what is wrong with him. i mean, he is 6-8, and he had never played center before. and doc gave him like 8 minutes. what is wrong with him!?   ::)

Again, i loved leon, but have people ever considered that he's not the second coming?

He's a 6-8 guy who rebounds well and now has a huge injury history.

He's not a key reserve in this league, sorry.

I thought he always contributed, besides he played C all the time that year in Doc's rotations.

But yeah its always Doc's fault.

i was wrong. doc gave him 5 minutes in that game 5 you mentioned.

http://www.nba.com/games/20080615/BOSLAL/boxscore.html

plus he was asked to play center. the guy always contributed when he was put out there.

Totally, I've been told by posters Doc killed the following players careers, it can not possibly have anything to do with the fact that they are players with marginal skill sets at best.

Leon Powe
Gerald green
Gabe Pruitt
Sebastion Telfair
*Jr Giddens
*Walker
