2010 Basic Current Rotation
Rondo   Nate
Ray        Tony
Paul       Marquis
KG         Baby
Perk      Rasheed

2008 Basic Playoff Rotation
Rondo    Cassell
Ray         House
Paul       Posey
KG          Powe
Perk        P.J.

If Marquis can play above average defense, our bench is BETTER than our championship bench. Baby, Rasheed, and Nate can create their own offense a whole lot better than Sam, House, Leon, and P.J. could.

>>The only question is this..........
>>Is the [BENCH IMPROVEMENT] greater than the [STARTERS' DECLINE]?
As stated it'll depend on KG.  Rondo's game is 100 times better now so that should even it a bit if KG isn't up to snuff.  In looking at the benches I can say loved leon, eddie, posey and pj.  But current bench is much better.  Tony doesn't have the offensive game (3 ptrs at least) as eddie but plays much better defense.  Sam played ONE GOOD GAME, thats it so nate is already better (just on height).  Marquis is mr intangible and I feel as important as any guy on roster if we are to make a run.  Posey was great here, range and could guard sf/pf.  Call it a draw.  Powe/Davis debate rages on, I feel davis has a better skill set but I'm a Powe guy.  'Sheed and PJ (sorry buddy) not even close.  fine job mr ainge

Well summarized, 2short. TP for a good run-down.

Just gotta hope our big three regain some superstar form once the postseason rolls around.

Here's your 2010 Championship Rotation

PG: Mo Williams/Daniel Dibson
SG: Anthony Parker/Delonte West
SF: Lebron James/Jamario Moon
PF: Antawn Jamison/JJ Hickson
C: Shquille O'Neal/Anderson Varejao

Not sure about that.

We'll probably have problems against both Clev. and Atl., but think we matchup really well against Orlando since they no longer have Turk and we do a great job against Howard.

Cleveland matches up poorly vs the Magic, but look good vs us and could probably sweep Atl.

Atlanta will struggle against Magic and Cavs, but could potentially best us in a series.

Playoff seedings are probably going to make a big difference this yr.

how does cleveland look good against us? We beat them once already this season, and in the 2008 playoffs, and last year, when our team was healthy, we took it to them. When we had health issues they killed us, but so did teams like the bulls and bobcats.

There is no way this bench is better than the championship team's bench.  Posey alone was a huge key to the championship.  Clutch 3's, backing up almost every position, big steals and tough defense.  I don't care about their scoring averages when I think about Posey.  This team is not good enough to win this year.  I think the reason everyone is writing off KG is because he looks terrible and cannot move.  I don't give him much of chance of becoming anything close to the KG of old.

By the way, if you ask me if I want the Posey of 2008, or the Sheed and Quis of 2010, it's a no-brainer - Posey by a landslide, especially with the starters we have.

Posey played well in the playoffs that year but his play has taken on almost mythic proportions since then. We had mediocre play from our bigs and Eddie and Sam. A Wallace/Baby/Daniels/Nate bench could easily be much better than our '08 bench. If Davis gets back to anywhere near how he was playing last year then our bench will be significantly better.

Jamison is a difference here. They're not the same team they were when we played them earlier this season and more importantly, we're not the same team mentally.

It's all on KG's health, and on Perk's mindset. The guy thinks he's Kevin McHale this year and lately he just looks awful and angry at everyone. Rondo is 100x better than in 2008, Pierce will be fine by May, and Ray is the healthiest member of the big 3. The bench is 10x better than the 2008 team. Doc and Thibs may have regressed somewhat though

It all comes down to KG's health.  That should be obvious, but I think a lot of folks are writing us off, without leaving any possibility that KG can bounce back.
Can he

Can he really bounce back from what appears to be a continuous year long struggle with his knee while trying to play through the problem and perform to KG type levels of play

Or should we expect something much lower from his playing expectations once he is 100% healthy

Since having 10 straight games out here are his stats since being back with his stats from Dec 2007, Dec 2008 and Dec 2009

Last 11 games  30 MPG, 12.3 PPG, 6.6 RPG,3.1 APG, 0.54 BPG, 0.91 STPG

Dec 2007  33 MPG, 17.5 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.4 BPG, 1.6 STPG

Dec 2008  33 MPG, 17.3 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 3.1 APG, 1.3 BPG, 1.5 STPG

Dec 2009  31 MPG, 16.3 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.0 BPG, 0.9 STPG

Let's hope we see a bounce back to Dec 2009 but I don't think we will ever see Dec 2007 again from him and I'm pretty sure Dec 2009 isn't going to be the rebounding, defensive player this team needs

They need Dec 2007 KG back and I don't think we'll ever see him again
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

Because Jamison causes some matchup problems because of his ability to spread the floor. If KG had the same mobility he used to it wouldn't be much of a factor, but he's lost a step or two and can no longer play as tightly on the perimeter as he used to.

everything rests on KG's health. If he gets back to the KG of early december we will take cleveland. Jamison is a good offensive player, but not great. He put up big numbers on a terrible team. Most importantly, he sucks defensively. This cavs team, although improved offensively over the team we beat in 2008, is much, much weaker defensively. Jamison can't defend, and Shaq is a shadow of his former self defensively. The cavs team in 2008 was a great defensive team, and that's what made them so tough in the playoffs.

I don't see any improvement, are you kidding? Posey, House, Leon...

Let me say that second team can't shoot, and this can be a big problem

What are you talking about?

Sheed + Baby can't shoot?

Which team have you been watching?

Sheed + Baby can stretch the floor which open lanes for our slashers Marquis and Tony.

Everyone knows that we'll never see the '08 KG again. What's debatable is the prognosis that he'll still be playing like he is NOW in April.

if that were true, then Ainge would have blown up the team by today since we are not winning anything without an effective KG

I'm not convinced the 2010 bench is better than 2008.

It's possibly superior but not definitely.
