I know it's not official, but is there some value Nate brings that I don't get?

Our 2nd unit has not been the problem and Eddie and Marquis  play well together. Eddie opens up space for Marquis to slash and is the best open look shooter in the league.

Nate is talented, but I don't see how he fits. He dominates the ball, is also undersized/limited on D, will need to adapt to our defensive system, doesn't resolve our backup point guard issue (if you think we have one), and does not mesh on paper with the team we have.

Why are we making this move? Does Nate have better trade value looking down the line? Are we just trying to mix things up and hope things work out? Can he actually turn things around? Thoughts...

Because Danny had to do SOMETHING.

I'm gonna go with Energy. We need some kind of spark, because the team looks like it's wading through quicksand recently. Nate may command the ball, but if Doc can knock that habit out of him, he can provide some explosiveness off the bench. My other guess--we weren't able to shop Ray for something better.

Nate is an upgrade over House, in terms of talent.  He's a better dribbler, passer, and penetrator, and statistically, he's not that far off in shooting.  He's also an electrifying scorer when he's hot.

On the other hand, talent isn't everything.  Nate is a jerk and a punk, and plays a selfish style.  There are real concerns about whether he'll be a good fit.  However, in terms of talent, I think Nate trumps Eddie.

Cause Dude can drop 40 anytime. Just kidding.

Celtics need a PG off the bench. Its too much pressure on Quisy to be a pretend PG, a 6th man, and play lock down defense. He can now be freer to score, and play that lock down defense. And also Come playoff time, You don't want Eddie or TA bring the ball up against pressure. I Almost forget Nate can drop 40. Dude Got Game!!

This year he's actually shooting better than Eddie, I think its pretty much a no risk move.

By every measure except fit/chemistry Nate is a better player than Eddie. If he doesn't pan out the Celtics won't have lost too much as Eddies struggles on the defensive end and with his shooting have become painful to watch at times.

He was a good soldier, and had an amazing year last year but why not try to upgrade?

Beats me

The way we are playing this team had to get 100% better to overtake the Cavs

The way we are playing this team has to get about 125% better to overtake the Cavs with Jamison

With Robinson we got about 6% better at best

***NOTE:These numbers are arbitrary and are there to make a point not to put some measure on the exactness of the situation***
Pick 2 Knicks

SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D

So?

If the only option you have to get better is a small improvement, you still take it.

Cause the fanbase needs to get excited by something. They are hoping adding a great athlete and 3time dunk champion can bring some energy and excitment back to the team. Who honestly seemed disinterested before last night in Sacramento. This will not decide the season in any way. Its still up to the stars to play better. So i dont think its a big deal. Thanks for everything Eddie.

Why are we (HOPEFULLY) adding Nate Robinson?

Because we all complain that Tony Allen shouldn't have ball handling duties(even though he's done well this year)

Because even though Marquis Daniels can control the ball and run plays, he still isn't a true PG and has other duties to do(slash, defend, etc)

Because Eddie House can't make a layup and can only throw up 3's off screens. AND Eddie can't dribble or make a basic pass without turning it over. He can only make ridiculous passes like diving out of bounds-catching the ball-and passing it behind his back.

Nate can score. Nate can dribble and pass. Nate can create his own shot. Nate can explode for 40. Nate can bring energy. Did I already say Nate can score?
Can't stop, Rondo!

Yeah, but I don't like Robinson so I would rather have kept House

Personally I think it's a sideway move

I was being generous with the 6 %

I'm an Eddie fan, but he's been terrible this year.  I also think he's lost a half step.  There's very little risk here for the C's and Robinson's a definite upgrade.  And if he is a bit of a jerk, so what.  I get the sense that this team has gotten too comfortable.

He's a selfish jerk, but he's also a better player than House. I don't know if he'll fit with this team, but the ability to move Daniels/Tony Allen to the 2/3 should help.
