Strange trade for the Bucks.  Unless they think they're making the playoffs this year.  Chicago fans ought to be happy though.  They still have to move Hinrich or Deng to have a shot in the free agent class this summer.

That is a ridiculous deal. He is the guy I wanted most from Chicago...

To the guy who said a couple of weeks ago in reference to dealing Ray, "I've never seen a trade in NBA history where a team gets something for only expirings," you are wrong and we are watching them all unfold now. This may be our best chance because of economics to make a lopsided deal.

Unfortunately it looks like we won't be one of the teams to get "something for nothing" this trade season.

Just have to accept our slow descent, I guess.  We'll see where the team is in a couple years, then we can start hoping for the future.

Excellent trade for both teams.

Chicago gets enough cap flexibility to make a guaranteed run at a max contract free agent.

Milwaukee gets a replacement scorer/defender for Michael Redd on the wing. A player who is good enough to give them a serious chance at making the playoffs. The Bucks are only a game and a half out of the seed at the moment, ninth best record in the East. Salmons gives them a legitimate chance at getting to the postseason.

With the way Jennings played this season they could sell John Salmons as their new MAJOR piece.

Thank goodness it wasn't us

Salmons is a rotation player averaging a PER of 12.8 for his career which is what Glen Davis is giving us this season and not much better than what Eddie House has given us (both at a much lower price). Salmon's under contract for $5.8 next year, but would cost us $11.6 after the luxury tax.

Think Danny could sell that to Wyc?

Source says Bulls-Bucks trade could be "expanded" Thursday, but bottom line for Salmons will still be starting SG gig in Brewtown.

Now, I wonder what kind of "expanded" deal might be possible. More players from each side? Or a 3rd (4th?) team brought in?

I have a feeling that tomorrow will be a very busy day.

BOS - Delfino, Nate and MLandry
MIL - Salmons and Scal
CHI - Elson and KThomas
NYC - House and Giddens

We get a a scoring wing, backup PG and spark, and buyout MLandry
Bucks get their wingman and another big to spread the floor.
Chi gets their expirings and NYC gets House.

I am still unhappy with the lack of trades but at least this one trade our junk for a couple players that can contribute(Delfino played on Detroits championship team)
Can't stop, Rondo!

Another scenario that makes us a little better in each department.

BOS - Delfino, Tyrus Thomas, NateRob and Landry
CHI - Scal,Sheldon,Elson and KurtT
MIL - Salmons and Tony
NYC - House and Giddens

This way we get a wing,pg and athletic forward. Milwaukee then gets two wing guards that play D well for Skile's system.
Chicago gets more expiring but another big, and NYC is the same.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Carlos Delfino is a solid solid player and even arguably having a better season than Salmons.

Won't surprise me one bit if they eventually go back to starting Delfino and bringing Salmons off the bench

Well, Warrick was held out of tonight's game and is on a one year deal. Although, it's also not his first unexplained DNP-CD, as Skiles continues to shuffle his front court rotation.  Joe Alexander would be the other obvious option, as he clearly isn't in the Bucks plans (The highest draft pick to ever have his 3rd year team option declined. A record previously held by former Ainge infatuation, Patrick O'Bryant.)

The Bucks wing rotation will be John Salmons + Mbah a Moute + Carlos Delfino.

There are enough minutes available for all three. Delfino is playing only 28 minutes per game, Mbah a Moute 27 minutes. They aren't losing their roles/minutes/touches/shot attempts. It will still be very similar to way it was before Salmons joined.

John Salmons will slot in and take the majority of those remaining 41 minutes and try to shoulder some of that burden that the Michael Redd left behind.

Then they'll use Charlie Bell or Jerry Stackhouse as the fourth wing. Also some time will go to Ridnour in small backcourts. Bell and Stackhouse are the guys who's minutes are going to be hit the hardest.
