The 2nd unit was playing extremely well throughout the whole 2nd quarter and had the lead up to 9 points when they came out with 3 min left. Why did doc pull them then? The starters were NOT playing well. The lead went immediately down to 5 at the half. The 2nd unit did not really come back in til the very end of the 3rd. My question is why?

You have all big 3 members banged up and the starters are not getting it done. Why not ride the bench when they are playing so well?

To me this makes sense. It would do two things. 1) Give the big 3 some more rest. 2) Possibly motivate them to play better by showing them that if they don't perform we have other players who can. The style of play that the 2nd team was playing was far different than the starter's.

We dodged a bullet last night. I think that we could have won going way if we stuck with our bench longer. Imho doc limited our own team from continuing to play well by sitting the players who were playing best.

You should ride your best players through the course of a season.

You should ride the hot hand or what works during the course of a game.
