Just do it 4 Rondo. Rondo could use Amare, and even JRich. It's sad watching Rondo be the first up the court, just to wait for Perk, KG, Pierce, and Ray.

perk's his best friend on the team, so off the court he'd be disappointed.

on the court? he's be pumped.

Z has already been paid the majority of his salary this year.  He got a check at the beginning o the season for half of it and I think about 25% of it was paid after last season.  I don't completely understand the inner workings of the contract and CBA to explain this well.  Brian Windhorst, the Cavs beat writer has explained it well before in the past.

As for a trade making good basketball sense between two teams...whe the last time that happened?  Trades are about money now-a-days, plain and simple.  I'm not saying that that's the right way to do things, but it is the way it is right now.

I agree.  But wouldn't a trade that also gets Richardson off the books be more valuable then?  This C's proposal (which I don't believe, but is fun to discuss) would save them $5 million this season ($10 million with luxury tax), and then significantly more next season.  If the goal is to save cash, then the C's deal is the winner.

Yes, a trade that pulls Richardson would be much more marketable to the Suns.  At least I think it should be.  It depends on how much money they want to save this year.

Ray, Scal, and Baby (and a 1st rounder for fun)

for

Amare and Richardson

clears bigtime money off Suns payroll for next year

gives us a replacement for Ray at the SG position and adds star young talent

isn't that a better offer than Big Z and a draft pick or Hickson?

Geez Jeff, the Suns gave us Rondo for nothing. Do you expect them to give us Amare and Richardson for cap space, too?

Once Steve Nash hangs them up in the next two years, Phoenix will be as bad as the Nets. What talent do we have to offer Phoenix for Amare? I don't think we have too much. We are already in danger of being like the Knicks of the Isiah Thomas era with bloated contracts of washed up veterans. However, we always have that 2008 season to hang our collective hats on. I am not going to complain.

Not if the Suns can create enough cap room. If they did this trade they'd have about 25 mil on the books, 7 of which is Barbosa who you could easily trade to a contender if you wanted to.

since we did not have a first round pick this past year, are there any restrictions on giving up another first round pick next year?

Keep in mind when it comes to the Suns and money, nothing is off the table (see habitual selling of 1st round draft picks).

I believe deli guy rumor. This guy is Steve Kerr as far as I am concerned.

What do you think these two discussed over the weekend? How about rediculous alley-oops for the next 5 years.

Probably not, but if they're reportedly discussing Amare + JRich for J. O'Neal, you have to try it, right?

RA, Perk, Scals and a first for Amare and JRich works too.http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5477176
We at least gotta put it out there. Let's put the heat on the Heat with the Suns.

@celticsblog ainge found out this morning that phx likes Perkins more than beasley

Perkins + Ray for Amare + J Rich?

I'd be dubious about that working on court but it could be our best chance.

Perk + Ray for Amare + JRich?  It sounds like a made-up rumor, but if it has legs, I'd probably pull the trigger at this point.

It makes a lot of sense for both teams.  We would have to include a minimum contract (Maybe Giddens?) to make it work, but it saves the Suns $5 million (not counting luxury tax) this season, and then a ton more next season, plus they get a good, young Center to replace Amare.

For the C's, they get a shot of life both in the frontcourt and backcourt.  They could move Garnett to center (where he should be playing anyways, based on his lack of mobility).

It could completely blow up on the C's, but if it does, then they just let Amare walk, and then trade Richardson's expiring contract next season.  But it also has the potential to propel this team back to the top of the league.

Meh.  It won't happen because it's exciting and would give us hope for this season.  Seems like this is the season where nothing like that happens for us.

Depends on what Phoenix really demands. Seems like when it comes to just Amare, they want expirings and some type of young cheap talent. But when taking on Richardson's contract ($14.44 million next year), they might not care about the young talent since they save so much (payroll would go down to $26 mil next year if they got Richardson out - how bout them as a dark horse entry in the free agent sweepstakes? Nice weather in the winter and you get Steve Nash setting you up for the next three seasons).

Thing is, I don't really like Amare, really at all, so I'm not sold on giving up Perk, who I at least know can play center. But realistically, it's time to shake things up. Ray, Scal, Perk and Giddens for Amare and J-Rich. So let's see that would leave us with Rondo, Richardson, Pierce, Garnett and Amare starting, House (or Robinson), Daniels, TA, Baby and Sheed off the bench with Shelden and Walker in deep reserve.
Go Celtics.

You do have a point. Suns could care less which young talent they get in return since they'll be able to shed a lot of salary. But if they do want Perk in return, You can't say no. You can't depend on KG anymore. This team could use a guy like Amare.
