Next, I'd sign Drew Gooden after his buyout.  

In the offseason I'd trade Perk to the Wizards for a future first round pick, then sign Jermaine O'Neal and Al Harrington to 1-2 year deals, at the end of which we should have acquired a top 5 draft choice (this will never happen either).
