Apparently Phoenix is also trying to attach Jason Richardson's contract to the Amare Stoudemire talks trying like crazy to move as much salary as possible

From JA Andande at ESPN:

Quote
Another league source said the Suns would like to attach Jason Richardson to a Stoudemire trade, which would relieve Phoenix from having to pay Richardson's $14 million salary next season. The combined $29 million of outgoing salary from Stoudemire and Richardson this season would be too difficult for Cleveland to match to make a trade work under the salary-cap guidelines. Miami, however, could add the $23 million expiring salary of Jermaine O'Neal to the previously mentioned offer and come within the 25 percent range of matching salaries. I have yet to hear that the Heat are willing to do so, I am merely mentioning the possibility.

That would have obvious appeal to the Suns, allowing them to escape from luxury-tax land next season and positioning them to go after a major free agent this summer.

So could a trade of Ray Allen to Phoenix for Jason Richardson, Grany Hill and Louis Amundson be something that Phoenix would do to give them the luxury of dealing Stoudemire for a package that doesn't include Richardson but helps them get to a point to sign a major free agent this summer

Idea:

Boston trades Ray Allen

Phoenix trades Jason Richardson, Grant Hill and Louis Amundson
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

I think Phoenix would be interested in that type of a deal.

In J.Richardson + one asset (Amundson, Dudley, maybe Hill) for Ray Allen.

I wonder if Danny Ainge has any interest in that type of a move. There has been very little trade talk with the Suns, for Richardson. I'd like to see that type of a deal happen.

Not a bad Idea, Grant Hill would be a great backup PG . Richardson provides much better athleticism and is a better defender than Ray. Plus he could get easy fast break dunks and is a decent 3 pt shooter

  • Rondo = Good
Richardson, Hill and Clark + future 1st for Ray + 2nd rounder sounds good to me.

No use taking on Richardson's contract unless we're solidifying the bench and getting a prospect for the future in the bargain.  Otherwise, it's not worth it.  Richardson is not significantly better than Ray.

If they'd consider Amare + Richardson for J. Oneal's expiring, how's that different from Ray, Scal, House/TA's expiring deals?  They apparently have no intention of resigning whoever they acquire in the trade.

J Richardson is one of the best 3pt shooters out there and he would fit in Ray's shoes so well IMO.
But I can't figure out, why is PHX trying to start over and rebuild without Amare.

why not just do a three way with Miami and Phoenix.  Then the C's wouldn't need to move Ray in that trade and could move him elsewhere and already have his replacement in Richardson.

So do these trades
BOS trades Scals, Sheed, T. Allen
BOS receives Richardson
MIA trades Beasley, J.O., 1st
MIA receives Sheed, Amare, Scals, T. Allen
PHO trades Amare, Richardson
PHO receives Beasley, J.O., MIA 1st

Then do this trade with Washington (or something similar)
Jamison & Miller
for
R.Allen & Big Baby

C's new rotation
PG - Rondo 38, House 10
SG - Richardson 30, Miller 10, Daniels 8
SF - Pierce 35, Miller 13
PF - Garnett 15, Jamison 33
C - Perkins 30, Garnett 18

Deep Bench
Giddens, Walker, Williams

Total minutes
Rondo 38
Pierce 35
Garnett 33
Jamison 33
Perkins 30
Richardson 30
Miller 23
House 10
Daniels 8
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Why should the Celtics help any team to move Amare to the Eastern Conference?

I'd say Richardson is significantly better than Ray.  Maybe not in the past, but now he is.

Because Phoenix isn't trading him to the Western conference.  I'd be ok with helping Miami get Amare.  So long as he doesn't go to Cleveland, Orlando or Atlanta.

While not a perfect trade I don't think they laugh at it considering the amount of money it would allow the Suns to take off their books while still getting some semblance of talent back rather than end of the bench players

Not every trade is just talent for talent anymore

As a matter of fact, nowadays more trades are motivated because of money and salary than they are talent improvement

This trade may be a bit lopsided in the talent end on the Celtics side but by the same token it allows Phoenix, a team very aware of their financial restrictions to save a bunch of money next year while freeing up money to sign a player of their choosing
