  • You know my methods, Watson.
hate to see this...  i've always loved this guy, dating back to the days when he coached the Cav's in the early 80's (I grew up in NE Ohio).  Good guy and hope he can beat this...

Denver Nuggets coach George Karl informed his team Tuesday afternoon that he is in another fight for his life with cancer.

Karl, who had been cancer-free since prostate surgery in July 2005, discovered a worrisome lump on his neck about six weeks ago. A biopsy determined that it was "very treatable and curable" form of throat cancer, Karl said, but it will still require an intense program of radiation and chemotherapy that will probably force him to miss some regular-season games.

"Cancer is a vicious opponent," he said. "Even the ones that are treatable, you never get a 100-percent guaranteed contract."

Treatment will consist of 35 sessions over the next six weeks. The sessions are expected to leave his throat extremely raw, requiring him to be fed through his stomach in the final weeks. "Keeping up your nutrition is a big part of the challenge," he said.

That's really awful.

Hopefully this inspires the Nuggets to play even better, at least.

This is truly awful news. I wish him the best. He's done it once so he has what it takes to do it again. And I hope his team does him proud in the meantime so it's one less thing to worry about.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Wow, terrible news, so sad to hear.

It seems that cancer is becoming more and more common.

Hopefully he can make it through a second time.

Having had the good fortune of meeting and working with George, this is a tough piece of news. He's a great coach and a good man who has my prayers.

FOr some reason this man is being tested over and over again. I really hope he pulls through this because I truly feel that people who go through as much as he has are destined to do great things later in life.
