Howard really wasn't the issue last year wth Orlando.

Agreed. The Cavs wish Howard was their problem last year. That's comforting to them, since Shaq allegedly fixes that. But as you say, the problem lies elsewhere and goes much deeper.

The best offseason move this year that upped the Cavs chances of beating Orlando was made by the Magic.  Getting rid of Hedu for Vince completely killed the match up advantage Orlando had

The Cavs are bluffing, but it is only to get to Phoenix to bite on the trade.  The Cavs want Phoenix to believe they will just go elsewhere (and Phoenix might) in order to get them to do the Z and Hickson trade.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

But its not a problem this year.  Lebron can guard either Vince or Rashard, and Parker, Moon and Delonte can all guard Vince.

Maybe. Sizewise it's a better fit for Cleveland. But if VC ever starts playing like the VC of old, he would destroy those guys. Then only LeBron can guard him. Sideshow is having a great year, but guarding Lewis for a whole series does not play to Cleveland's strengths.

(1) Amare -- top choice, poor trade offer though
(2) Jamison -- second choice but reluctant to give up Hickson

(3) Murphy -- won't happen, Larry is asking for too much

(4) Maggette -- seems like the fallback option if nothing else is on.

I don't think the Cavs are bluffing. They just have no certainties in the trade market and are desperately trying to find a way to upgrade their team to put them a level above their competition in the East.

The only reason the Cavs couldn't matchup with Hedo was because LeBron was defending Rafer Alston which was idiotic.

If Cleveland used LeBron against Turkoglu the way Phily used Iggy against Hedo, then the Cavs would have won the series.

There was absolutely zero need to put Delonte West on Turkoglu.

Don't think the Cavs are bluffing about looking seriously for a deal, but I think the past has shown that Ferry is content to stand pat if he can't get a deal he likes.  They may ultimately do nothing but it's not their preference and it won't be for lack of trying.

BTW, I know my previous statement may come off harsh but I think having Lebron has helped Danny Ferry avoid the critique he well deserves. In my opinion he has continously done a pathetic job surrounding Lebron with the talent, and more importantly, the type of players he deserves.

Where is your justifcation for this?  Ferry had one bad year (his first) and has since done nothing but improve the Cavs.  He turned Donyell Marshall, Larry Hughes and some other dead weight into Delonte West, Big Ben, Wally and Joe Smith.  He turned Joe Smith into Mo Williams.  He turned Big Ben into Shaq (by adding the waste of talent Sasha Pavlovic).

He didn't 'sit on his hands' last year, but it would have been nice to get something for Wally.  PHX turned down the Shaq trade that Cleveland offered (they wanted Hickson) and then Ferry got him for Sasha Pavlovic and Ben Wallace. It would have been nice to get something for Wally, but Ferry only makes moves that he sees as a clear win.

To me, it was absolutely ridiculous that he wouldn't move Szerbiak for a piece.

My biggest criticism is the cast that he's placed around LBJ, specifically a complete lack of idendity. Personally, I think you surround him with uptempo players who would thrive in the run-n-gun, where Lebron is unstoppable. Instead Ferry has created a hybrid of different types of half court players that seem like a better fit for a Tim Duncan type.

I've said it before, and people have disagreed but I think that if you were to remove Lebron and replace him with an above average player like Joe Johnson you're looking at arguably the worst team int eh league.

Who is JJ Hickson to be commanding this much trade value? Gerald Green has a better basketball IQ

I think the Cavs would be close to a playoff team without LeBron and would be a 50-53 win squad with Joe Johnson.
