now, if danny could draft, we might do ok.

sounds like someone is baiting for a reaction...
 ;)

not baiting, just voicing my opinion.  let me state that i love him as a gm, just it seems like we got old really fast and i was around the first time it happens.  i really hope, that he can deal his chips to try and keep some talent and get younger.  other teams do it when they are in this position, so we should be able to.

No one ever got rich trading with Geoff Petrie.

Never get involved in a land war in Asia
Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line
and
Never trade with Petrie

I know you're just having fun, but Petrie's rep is overinflated.  It's been awhile since he trade Pollard for Brad Miller.  In fact he's been anything but predatory in his recent dealings.

He traded Salmons and Miller for Nocioni and filler.

He traded Artest for Donte Green, expirings and a draft pick.

He traded Mike Bibby for Shelden Williams and expirings.

Doesn't Martin/Nocioni for Ray Allen and a 1st round pick fit right into that trend?
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jimmy Butler
PF: Pau Gasol
C: Yao Ming

They didn't get traded, but Udrih and Garcia sure did get rich on money that wasn't even close to their value when they had no leverage. Why did Petrie give it to them? Now he has to dump one of them as a consequence if he hopes to maximize their youth movement.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Petrie's "aura" is well behind him.  He's just another struggling GM in my eyes...

I think he has not had the primo draft position to help - aside from the indefensible Roy for Telfair move.  He has done well based on his draft position otherwise.  The Marcus Banks pick was a fail - but given the fail rate of that pick, it was not an epic fail so much as a simple mistake.

It is the nature of the NBA, you either go all in to be good and worry about the consequences later ... or you keep waiting for the ship to come in.  Elite talent is limited and gets distributed only occasionally.  Danny has the team lined up pretty well cap-wise to rebuild, but the problem is that time is 2012.

I dont like a trade with the Kings unless Ray Allen gets bought out and returns to the green. I know he can score but he needs the ball in his hand and we have enough injury prone players at the moment now. Nocioni would be a great back up for Pierce but he has a bad contract and would eat some of Daniels minutes. I hope this isnt the best available deal cause I am not a fan.

Daniels would probably play the 2, while Nocioni plays the 3. I don't think TOO many minutes are being eaten.

This also assumes we don't trade for a backup PG, like BBD for Augustin.

Really thinking that a lot of things are going to come out with the Celtics name tomorrow. One will be this since we are in Sactown. Really wish the Celtics would get involved with the knicks and Rockets for Nate and then turn around and get Kevin Martin. If we cant get either of them i think we should go after Kirk on thursday. The way i look at it. Ray Allen is the only chance we can contend next year, Reason being his contract. He cant really help us next year but coming off the bench. But If we can go get Kevin Martin and say he says i want to be bought out and comes back then we have a great team for next year. If we cant get the younger guy back this year then we might as well try our best to get Kirk from the Bulls and say this is what our cards are this year, and thats it. Then we start Kirk at the 2 next year and bring allen off the bench.

I don't like the idea of Nocioni at the 3. He has the same problems that Scalabrine does at the 3 (he at least rebounds though....) His best position currently is the 4 by a wide margin.

Is Nocioni that slow? Cause Nocioni basically has the same height has Pierce but 10 pounds lighter. Scal actually has height to go with his size.

Still, if what you say's true, it's all the more reason to trade BBD away for Augustin.

He's that slow laterally, he used to be able to play the 3 a few years ago in Chicago. Since then he's lost quite a bit of his quickness, and even then he wasn't quick at 3.

His foot speed his comparable to Scalabrine, but he's a much better rebounder.

  • Rondo = Good
Nocioni = rich man's Scal.

At least, that's the impression I'm getting from other posters.  Never actually watched the guy play.

I would rather go after DJ Augustin than Hinrich . He is younger , a lot cheaper and a better shooter which comes in handy for our backup PG giving the C's a different skill than Rondo.

Another reason I want Augustin.........

KEVIN DURANT! Augustin was his teammate in college and from what I have read they seem to have been close in college. When Durant becomes a free agent in 2012 , the C's would still have Augustin under contract  I know this a reach , but I can dream can't I?  ;D
