1 thing I do like about Martin by reading his Game logs in 08-09. He gets to that foul line a whole lot, meaning more points for himself & Paul because them together puts other teams in foul trouble & ourselves in the bonus. He also a 85% foul shooter which also is a plus, if you get to the line you may as well make it. He creates alot better than Ray & he could play an emrgency 3 at times because he is 6'7. Alot of plus signs for us attaining Martin, but those long stretches of games misssed every season scares me. Then he comes back fresh of his injuries & score 35-50 pts. so sign me up! I will take it.

the injury history is a big deal ... biggest problem, he'd be better than 2010 Ray otherwise slam dunk.  But he is able to score a lot without a ton of touches, and that is a big plus.

I don't care if he averages 50 games a season as long as he's healthy and in rhythm for the playoffs.  His contract is fantastic, so much so that we could conceivably add an MLE player or near MLE player in the offseason, especially if Pierce restructures his deal.

i think a deal happens, albeit a small one.  The Celtics want to change energy - and they need some more depth.  KG's health ultimately determines the team's ability to win in the long run - and even with him not being especially good, the team has managed to win games and hang with good opponents.  A tweak and some health could do it - but "some health" is very unlikely.  A tweak is the avenue to go - but if a chance to positively impact the franchise's future is there, gotta look at it.

monta ellis!  we lose the expiring in ray and get a young talented player.  now, if danny could draft, we might do ok.

I feel that regardless of the trade the team makes, if KG does not regain his form we will not win a championship.

A trade for K-Mart would make us better, but not better than the Cavs, Lakers or Magic without a semi functional kg.

I think the best move would be to trade expirings and maybe a first for a quality young player, that eventually could start.

Kevin Martin (K-Mart still makes me think of Kenyon Martin) is a quality young player who could start right now.  He's newly turned 27.

He was just on Comcast Sports Toinght

- Said Danny is definitely NOT in desperation move

- He is shopping other expiring ( Scal,TA)

- Said there is a good chance Danny is going to have a conversation with Geoff Peitre and sacramento management about a Ray for Kevin Martin + Nocioni tomorrow when the C's are in Sacramento

- Hinrich is still in play ( if he can be had for other expiring besides ray)

- Said he doesn't think the C's are targeting DJ Augustin at all right now.

Allow me to translate:
(1) Danny is in desperation mode
(2) Everyone is for sale
(3) Danny is trying to get another team (like Washington w/ Jamison) to blink by pretending to be active with the "Ray for Kevin Martin" talks.
(4) Danny is trying to get Charlotte to agree to a BBD for DJ Augustin deal by pretending that the Cs are going after Hinrich instead.

In short, if the Cs end up with Mike Miller, Antawn Jamison, and DJ Augustin for Ray and BBD before the trade deadline, you heard it from me first...

Good stuff. I don't want Augustin. I do want Martin and Nocioni.

Nocioni is a fart.

Petrie is a good GM - it is more the chance to take a contract his owners want to get rid of.  Is that worth dealing a 27 year old who is not a core piece of the future, but certainly valuable?  It might not be in his hands.  That said, a deal would surprise me.

Danny drafts exceptionally well if you ask me, He took 4 late 1st round draft picks & has made a couple stars. Thats great! Danny has drafted Al Jefferson (future perennial All-Star) Rajon Rondo (All-Star possibly a top-10 future player) Kendrick Perkins (Who I think will be an all-star soon & the best Defensive center in the league). Delonte West, Green from OKC who turned into Ray Allen. Tony Allen, Gerald Green & Ryan Gomes who we turned into K.G. And a budding young talent in Bill Walker who has yet to get his opportunity playing behind a hall of famer in Pierce, so the verdict is still out on him. That is a great drafter if you ask me, his only bust was J.R. Giddens who was the LAST player drafted in the 1st round, to compensate that pick he then pulls out two 2nd round steals in Big Baby & Leon Powe! I no reservations about Danny "all-ways evaluating" Ainge!

I like Monta Ellis a lot - the kid is a flat out scorer, no question. But as I've said before and will say time & time again, a backcourt of Rondo and Ellis would never work.

1.) They're just too short. Rondo is 6'1", Ellis is 6'3" - bigger backcourts would eat them alive.
2.) Ellis is more of a slasher than a shooter, you need a shooter to spread the floor with Rondo to open up the lanes so he can drive & kick. All opposing defenses would have to do is hamper down and clog the lanes.
3.) Ellis needs the ball in his hands to be effective... If Rondo doesn't have the ball, he can't set up other teammates.
