We've seen every one of these dunks before, what a boring event. Way to go Lebron you chump, say you are gonna be in it and then back out. What a waste of 2 hours. They cut the horse competition short and then have the worst dunk competition I can remember

Way to go NBA!1

Here's something to help with the disappointment.

The league truley should be embarressed. Wallace looked like he didnt even want to be there. Shannon was doing dunks that anyone with dunking ability could have done. Robinson was okay i guess and Derozan had one good dunk.

Just awful and boring. P

Good thing Lebron was in it this year.

Seems like every other year I say "worst Dunk Contest ever".  This one was particularly lame though.
Yup

it's so frustrating to see lebron and kobe not entering the contest. mj, dominique and dr. j did it in their prime.. why can't they then? i feel like they think they're too good for the contest. it's pathetic.

It's been that way since the early 90's...Stars avoid the Dunk Contest.  Dwight Howard bucked the trend a bit.
Yup

Well vc, francis, and mcgrady and others did it in the beginning of the decade. Lebron and Wade need to get in the contest asap. I think people underestimate the importance of the dunk contest to the NBA. Sone of the greatest memories in NBA history have occured in this contest. The stars need to stop acting like theyre too good and bring it back!

Btw whoever payed to see that mess should be given a refund or a free jersey or something

I would go as far as to say worst all-star Saturday night that I've ever seen.  Besides for Pierce in the 3-point contest (and maybe nash), it didn't seem like any of the players really wanted to be there.

Like i just put it to Mean Gerald Green, that dunk contest was worse than Eddie House on a fast break.

There was not even one dunk that made me jump up or anything, hell the shooting stars contest had me more excited.

I had high expectations from Chris Brown, I mean Shannon Brown. He wasted that 44.5 inches Vertical Leap.

IMO, the event has really gone down hill in the past decade or so.

I don't think we'll ever see the glory days of 'Nique/Jordan but one way to resusitate this thing would be to get the big names back.  I'm sick and tired of seeing non all-stars taking part in this event.  Get the D-Wades & Lebrons of the world in the event and it might be more entertaining. Bonafide names and all stars.

Even then, I'm not sure its enough.  We've seen so many different and unique dunks over the years that its become almost impossible to come up with something unique and exciting that doesn't include props (which I hate the use of in the first place).

I thought the Gerald Green and Dwight Howard dominated contests were a lot of fun.  Sure they used a lot of props, but they went at it with a lot of showmanship and bravado.  G

This year it was Attack of the Clones though.  Demar DeRozan is one of the blandest players in the league.  Gerald Wallace is also very lowkey.  Shannon Brown has no perceivable personality. Nate Robinson is the only guy with any spunk and pizzazz and we've already seen everything in his repertoire.

Hah. I'm surprised he didn't organise an interview and tell the national audience that he'll DEFINITELY be in it in 2011. PROMISE.
