If you looked up "ball stopper" in the dictionary right now I am pretty sure Paul Pierce's picture would be the definition. He was awful tonight after a decent first quarter.

Doc is most definitely part of the problem.  He has that clueless, deer-in-the-headlights look.

Didn't he say, before the game, that guys who were ball stoppers would be benched?  Then why wasn't Pierce benched?  Pierce dribbled around aimlessly on every possession, and he didn't just stop the ball, he coughed it up.  Or is Pierce immune to being benched for horrible play?

Pierce = Vet. Pierce = franchise player. Pierce or K.G. = Unhappy with Doc, results in Doc being fired.

Doc picks on the young guys only. Did you see how he yelled @ Glen Davis on the bench. IDK over what, but Davis played well and so did the rest of the bench. Anyhow Danny is in hot water. I believe even more so than Doc is.

or how about Pressing FULL COURT to start the 3rd?...I think Tommy mentioned this about a week ago.

Half of our guys can barely move in the Half Court!

In an earlier post in another thread i defended Doc because this slump we've been in has been allll on the players shoulders, not really his...

However, tonight, Doc made a bonehead move. The only player giving us offensive intensity was Quis...He was playing incredible. SO what does Doc do? Take him out!!! BS... Same thing happened last year against the Magic in game one. I was at the game. Marbury put up 14 points in the first half and played out of his mind and like the proven veteran we actually needed him to be...What happened in the second half? He sits the entiiiire 24 minutes! I just dont get it. Pierce had 8 turnovers, garnett had 7 points, Perk had 3, Pierce was playing his crap iso game, and Quis was the only one (other than TA) who was actually going to the basket! Maybe we wouldnt have won the game anyway, but Quis should have played down the stretch in this one without question.

Well, I think the Stubbornness of sticking with the SAME starting 5 has something to do with this....GOTTA shake things up---Start Marquis and/or Rasheed....have Perk and Ray/PP come off the bench...DO SOMETHING!!!

This is the NBA, coaches can't really do that.

It's hard to tell a player "your going to the bench, but you still have to play hard and like it!!" when they make 5-6 times more than you do.

IT works in college, not in a league where stars are guaranteed their $$, performance be [dang]ed.

Doc is guaranteed his $4 million/year on his contract, too...performance be [dang]ed.

In 2006, Danny stuck up for Doc, saying he couldn't judge his coach by the record because they didn't have the roster to win.  Now, Danny is sticking with the idea that this is a championship roster, or close to it.

So what does Danny think about his coach now?

I wonder if the players are throwing the good Doctor under the bus. No I suspect that the practices stink and that Doc is so frustrated with this outfit that he is exposing the players for who they are.

Either way - I would not be surprised that the good Doctor is in trouble here and will take the fall for this debacle of a season.

Even if the majority of the blame lies on the players, it's the coaches responsibility to keep them from falling even farther on the sword. Doc has not been able to stop the bleeding in any of these monumental collapses. I don't care if you have to sit Pierce, Allen, and KG for the entire 3rd or 4th. YOU DO SOMETHING. You cannot just continually allow the same things to happen over, and over, and over again. For this reason, Doc needs to be blamed. If Doc had any guts, he would sit these guys and play the bench until they get the message.

TP for the depression laugh.

Hard for a coach to do much to alter the course of such a depressed team, other than benching KG & Pierce, which I don't think Doc, or Danny or Wyc, is ready to do yet.

There's a reason Marquis is playing better than anyone right now.  He's the only one who's fresh and unscarred from the last 20 games.
