It's really pretty confusing. Doc has said that he has had arguments with KG in the past and told him he had to sit out, why won't he do that with Pierce? I wouldn't play him tonight and give him a nice long rest.

gotta get ready for the 3 point contest... ::)

He better not be competing in this or the all-star game.  Would just be a FOOLISH FOOLISH idea.

IF he plays tonight, per NBA rules, he has no choice.

Players who play in the last game before the break MUST play the all star game.

Do you have a source for this? Ive never heard this. What if (knock on wood) a player got hurt in that game right before the break?

Couldnt the C's just say he tweaked his ankle if he didnt really want to play?

WEll, i assume if you were injured in the course of that game, thier would be an exception, but im 99% sure that the rules say if your healthy enough to go in the game before the break, you have to suit up for the all star game.

PRetty sure anyway, that was kobe's issue a few years ago when he tried to sit out. Anyone got a link to that rule, i know i've seen it on here before. TP for the effort.

Doc has made Paul sit before, first of all. I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say "the coaching staff couldn't sit a dog!"

I thought the team's main problems were issues with chemistry. I think every game counts. I honestly doubt Pierce would be allowed to play if he wasn't good to go.

While i actually agree with most of you post Tai, I couldn't pass this up.

Tell this to:

Leon Powe when the training staff cleared him to play on a bum knee, which he destroyed 2 quarters later.

Tell this to KG when he was told it was a sprain, sat two weeks, then came back and hurt it again and was told "opps...we totaly missed the major problem in your knee." last year.

Tell that to Al jefferson 4 years ago, when he complained of constant pain in his ankle, was told by the training staff it was sound, and was accused of milking the injury by his coach, only to find out a few weeks later that he had bone chips in his ankle the staff had missed.

Ed Lacerte and his staff are a joke. They should be replaced by a competent medical staff, asap.

None of that absolves doc, but man, it saddens me how the training staff gets a pass. They misdiagnose more injuries than any training staff ive ever seen. It's been a pet peeve of mine for years.

For instance, i have no basis for this, but i suspect they diagnosed paul with a broken foot off the xray, as the leaks indicated, and then when paul had the MRI done, no break was found.

The above is nitpicky when compared to the other gross misdiagnoses they've done over the years, but still.

It's one thing if players have to play because they have no choice (i.e., we don't have a backup point guard). But what bugs me is how often players say that they're "good to go" when they are not. I get the warrior mentality, love for the game, heart... whatever it may be. But I also think it's a bit selfish of them to think that way. In my opinion, it's better for the team in the long run if a recently injured player can rest up, heal properly, all while letting their teammates grow given this opportunity to get playing time. Plus, if you're injured, you can't try as hard on defense... you stop playing physical, you start shooting jumpers rather than getting the ball inside.... all that hurts the team.

Obviously, as competitive, professional athletes, these guys always think that they can play. It's up to the coaching and medical staff to see through that mentality and do what's best for the team.

Doc can't make pp sit, look at it, and all his injuries, there is no way all those could have healed in that time, drain his knee, do you know what that is all about.....how do you think the water got there...it isn't water, let me tell you....and it doesn't come from too much gatoraid...broken foot, sprained foot, healed in 2-3 days.....pp is a bball addict and cannot stop himself from playing, he is a competition addict, so is kg, that is why kg couldn't sit out at the game on the bench in street clothes, it is impossible for a player to do that, watching chumps score, when you should be out there to stop them......players cannot even be near basketball without playing...it is impossible to stop them...it is like gamblers AA, it is true...!

well, that is what i was trying to say, in my own way i guess, so tp for you....doc, ed L.....they have to make him for the greater good, as in the playoffs...

Maybe he is playing cause Ray is not playing tonight because Danny has agreed to a trade? You never know!

I have so little faith in the training staff who are shockingly unwilling to err on the side of caution given their track record. Honestly there's no suspense anymore about Pierce when he's questionable because he always ends up playing. The decision-making about injuries returns for anyone not named KG or TA tends to quite shortsighted IMO. How about some strategic rest for Pierce too?
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

PP should not be playing tonight and definitely not for the All Star Game. We need a healthy, rested PP going into 2nd half of season. This goes beyond dumb. It is not like we are going to build some momentum going into the break anyways. Cant our staff err on the side of caution for once?

Teach me your craft. Did you already know Ray was out?
