  • You say when......
Pierce is saying his foot is still sore but still intends to play
i would sit ray, KG and PP to be honest with you
gotta get ready for the 3 point contest... ::)

He better not be competing in this or the all-star game.  Would just be a FOOLISH FOOLISH idea.
the All-Star weekend festivities in which he is part of :

Quote
"It's getting better, it's still a little sore," Pierce said of his left foot sprain. "I'm hoping over the break, with some time off, I can continue the process of getting better. Definitely, the weekend is going to help. I plan on playing tonight and plan on being in the All-Star game, plan on being in everything."

Pierce will also be involved in the 3-point contest.

"I have been practicing, I feel pretty good about it, I like my chances," Pierce said after the Celtics completed a late-morning shootaround. "I don't see a lot of wear and tear if I participate in the weekend activitites, play about 10-12 minutes in the All-Star game. The 3-point contest, I don't really see too much wear and tear, I don't look at it as something that is going to hinder me."

Per Boston.com

I would rather see him sit tonight but Doc won't have the guts to bench him. Plus, if he plays in the All-Star weekend anyway...

I guess Paul will be OK.

TP's for you guys, and one other i think i got em all, PP should sit, the guy has had 3-4 major problems already this year, doc couldn't make a dog sit...!

PP is a real "old time" player, he will never sit or not play, if it is UP TO HIM, now if we had management, or a coach or something someone with vision.

Tell thank to the year of tank-o-vision for Oden....

This team needs to get rhythm and chemistry back on the court. The only way to do that is for Pierce to play. He may be hurt but if he says he can go, i trust him... And I do agree that Pierce is a warrior, the bit above was just sarcasm.

Man, it's impossible to keep Pierce off the floor. I admire his love for the game, but he'd be out there playing if both of his arms and legs were broken. I don't know how he'd do it, but he'd find a way.

you do realize that if this is like every other sports organization, the call on whether a player is available or not is primarily the training staffs, not the coaches right?

If eddie lacerate, a medical professional, is signing of on it, thats on him. Doc bears some responsibility as well, but if your doctor is signing off on a players health, then i don't blame a coach exclusively for relying on that.

LEts not get me started on my age old rant about how the boston celtics training staff has been a joke for years (just ask leon powe or al jefferson), but regardless, spread the blame around to them as well.

This is out of nowhere, but I wonder if Pierce has Lyme disease....which is an infection that frequently causes swollen knees....and makes people tired.

I wonder if he's had a test...

by this logic he shouldn't be practicing or apart of the shootarounds.

I think it's pretty likely Paul takes more than 30 Jump shots a day at practice, don't you?

I think that was his point, that a glorified shoot around, most likely far less stressful than an actual practice shootaround, isn't going to make or break that injury.

He should take the game off though. Of course, if he suits up tonight, that's not an option.

Well, they do need rhythm, but when pp is ailing he doesn't do much, and when someone is dragging, they usually play O or D, not both, that doesn't help chemistry, a healthy pp will help everything, and at his age rest is the only way,,,some might have to be past 35 to understand, when i was under 35, i still thought i was 28, it takes to to understand that the body needs more time to heal, and 34 and up is a real changer for the body...Ray, KG, they need rest, they are up against some of the best athelites around, and they are 22-30, with healing time on their side...

IF he plays tonight, per NBA rules, he has no choice.

Players who play in the last game before the break MUST play the all star game.

Do you have a source for this? Ive never heard this. What if (knock on wood) a player got hurt in that game right before the break?

Couldnt the C's just say he tweaked his ankle if he didnt really want to play?

it doesn't put much strain on them, certainly not enough to cause serious injury, which the celtics medical staff must agree with since they are allowing him to do it
