I can't remember the last time I heard this much Celtic talk on the radio here in Boston. Is this team is only interesting when there is some form of controversy!? I guess a topic that has a lot of differing opinions makes for great radio right?

That said, am I the only Celtic fan not panicking? The only one that thinks that as long as they get healthy and their wind back in time for the playoffs that they'll have as good a shot as any of the top teams to win the East and Finals? I mean, if it wasn't so damaging to our recruiting ability I'd say "let's try like hell to ditch Rasheed" but aside from that, I believe this team is in a good position now and for the future.

This team was built for the playoffs, not the regular season.

which radio station are you listening to?
Also, this is a good sign if you are in favor of trades. When the people on the radio, especially with all the Sox & Patriots love here in Boston, are talking about the C's its a really good thing.

I went out for lunch early today and heard Dale Arnold talking Celtics non-stop. That's all the Callers wanted to talk about

  • Rondo = Good
People see that the Celtics are struggling, so they have something to say about it.  When things are going fine, or there's no chance of something changing, there's little interest in giving input.

Not many people enjoy discussing the relative merits of specific lineups and exact minutes for different players (like us).  Throw out a rumor that a major guy might be traded, however, along with some epic failures in the past couple of months, and you get lots of chatter.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

People who take the time to sit on hold for those stations are not calling in to say "we're great" they sit there to kavetch and gripe.

Outside of the redsox, who people call in about year round, the majority of the callers only call in to complain.

When we were winning a championship, no one cared. Now that the team has hit a pot hole, the closet GM's are out in force.

IT's been the same with the bruins this year. Last year they barley got a mention until the playoffs from callers. Now every 5th caller to the big show is an expert on hockey amd what they are doing wrong.

As a full time Celtics fan and a very casual observer of all other teams in Boston, I don't even listen to sports talk radio in Boston.  I don't think its a matter of not being any interest in the celts, but it is the hosts who set the stage for what people want to talk about.

They talk about the sox and pats so so do the callers.  If they talked about the Celts as much as they do about those other teams, I would listen and probably call and I'm sure many others would too.

I wonder, is there as vibrant an online community for the sox, pats or bruins as CB is for the Celts?  I think passion for the Celts goes far and wide here in boston and people don't give it enough credit.

Not sure about the pats and bruins, but for the sox, Sons of sam horn is a pretty vibrant blog. I think of them as the CBlog of baseball.

Dale and Holley are pretty good about spreading the wealth as far as talking about different teams.

I don't think I've ever heard D & C talk about another team other than the Pats.

And... I don't think I've ever heard the Big Show discuss anything other than the Pats, Sox, and things that don't matter.
