Congrats to Perk, he deserves it!

Let's hope he will take this selection as a bigger award than an All-Star selection and get back to the good old Perk who doesn't care about invidual stats or achievements.

right? that would be scary for a team. put howard at the 4, perk at the 5 and just dare teams to come inside lol.

PG: wade
SG: bryant
SF: james
PF: howard
C: Perk

Would be pretty destructive as a defensive lineup for that team. Imagine the block party that 3-4-5 combo would engage in.

Congrats to Perk for some recognition.

He's come a long way from that pudgy high school kid from Texas.

True, but i can see him making it ala battier. A bench defensive big to back up dwight / make opposing center's lives miserable.

They took Prince last year and had only two bigs right?

I mean they planned on LeBron/Melo being 4s in the Olympics. If they've changed that strategy and moved them to the 3 then Perk has a very real shot.

He's got a chance.  We've seen USA Basketball make a transition from the mindset of trotting out an "all-star" team to putting out a "team" with a lot of complementary components that even include guys who are closer to the "roleplayer" characteriztion than "all-star".

Given the state of true centers in the NBA and the finalists named, Perk has a shot because of the particular brand of basketball he plays.

Congrats to Perk. I love that his hard work and defensive prowess are getting recognition. Hope he makes it.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

He has a chance ... good for FIBA where you set picks, play defense.  Post offense is a non consideration.  The one reason he might not make the team is that the team only carries 2 centers (Bosh, Howard) assumes that those two, Melo, LeBron and Durant can cover the two frontcourt spots.
