From Boston Globe:

Davis wants bigger role
Glen Davis, whose numbers have risen steadily since his return from a fractured right thumb, said he is ready for an increased role in the offense. In his past three games, Davis has averaged 8.7 points and five rebounds and he was one of the few bright spots in Sunday’s loss.

“I’m put out on the floor for a job and that’s to be aggressive,’’ he said. “I’m basically an energy guy, that’s what I do. It wasn’t too long ago that I was a key factor in helping us win. I’m not helping my team if I’m not using my talents.’’

Davis acknowledged that the presence of Rasheed Wallace as the primary frontcourt backup took some adjustment.

“Coming back and really having to portray a different role really kind of took away my aggressiveness,’’ he said. “Me understanding what my role is and when can I get my shots, I can help my team. It gives them another option than giving the ball to Rasheed all the time and playing Rasheed heavy minutes, they could play me minutes.

Ok... In my opinion Wallace should not play so much, but i don't like this quote. Davis acts like a real Big Baby, he alwas has complain about himself. I don't like he tells these words to the press, talk with Rivers, not with press.

I'm not listening to anything Glen has to say anymore. Everything he has to say is garbage.

He didn't just call a press conference.  He was asked a question I'm sure.  But he does deserve to play more than Wallace.  At least he hustles rebounds and otherwise gives full effort.  I'd like the see the minutes switched between Baby and Wallace until Rasheed gets it that he has to give full effort if he wants minutes.  He will get more minutes, I think Doc was just waiting for him to get back in game shape and to be playing better before he gives him more minutes. At least that's what I hope.

Still, I wish him and Rondo to stop talking to the press and talk in the locker room instead.

But whose to say Baby didn't already talk to Doc about this?

I agree with Bankshot. It's good to see that Baby wants to contribute as much as he can, I don't see it as a "selfish" mindset.

I guess he was asked this question and answered it, so as long as he doesn't bring such topics to the media, that's OK with me.

He can't finish.

Until he can finish, no more minutes. Tough to play a unathletic big who plays under the rim.

As much as I can't stand watching Glen on the court the past few years, I'm not particularly bothered by his quotes.  If he's trying for more minutes then that's fine if that's what he wants.  But if he's wanting plays called for him on offense, or to touch the ball more on O, then he's being rather ridiculous.  He's not a capable offensive player if he is given the ball to make a play.  He plays best off of the ball.

Glen's not getting his shot blocked because he's lacks athleticism  that's for sure.  He's at least top 5 on the team in that dept.  He does lack height obviously.  I will say this about Davis.  You know he's trying when he's on the court.  That seems to be biggest missing piece along with KG not being 100% that is plaguing this team. If everyone played as hard as Glen they wouldn't be losing as many games.

The dude is 300 pounds and moves like a guard so athleticism is least of his worries.

' can't stand ' smh..

I'm treating this the same way I treat any quote framed in this way...ignoring it until I can hear the entire interview in context.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I think BBD was most likely trying to parrot back something that Doc told him, i.e., "you need to be aggressive out there", etc.  I'm sure he was given a pep talk about how big a part of the team he is, but how he needs to contribute more consistently.  That's the message I think he's attempting to relay here.  However, he doesn't necessarily say it artfully.

Hey, Ray can't make a three these days, but he still gets 40 minutes.

Ray getting 40 minutes is probably one of the reasons he's struggling somewhat.

This is terible journalism.  Glen said nothing wrong here but the first line in the article makes it seem as if he did.  The  "Davis wants bigger role" is the only time it's mentioned that he wants more minutes.

All he said was that he needed to adjust to his mew role wich took some time,  He said he's back to doing what he does best and Agressive energy guy, and that he gives them another option so they don't have to plat Sheed long minutes.

He never says he should be playing over Sheed or anything like that. There is Zero wrong with what he said except that the write paints it in a bad light with his opening statement (which is false from the quotes he gave).

On the other hand....if you're losing minutes to the guy they brought in - and it's obvious to you that the guy is out of shape and gives a full effort less than 50% of the time...then you have a right to wonder why you're not getting more minutes.

Maybe he's struggling a bit offensively but I think BBD is a guy who needs minutes to be effective.  If I were in his shoes I would despise Sheed and wonder why my coach keeps giving him more minutes than he's earned.

Glen please stop talking to the media and just play. If you play well the minutes will be there.
