so has leon become the next gerald green? he's done absolutely nothing this season, but apparently to some he was a must-have. someone tell me the logic in that...
the problem with this team is that, due to their age (and accompanying injuries) they cannot do the same things they did before. therefore, the problem with this team is FRUSTRATION. and when you're frustrated you start trying to do too much. they want to snap their fingers and become what they were two years ago. not going to happen...
that's why this team needs to make a move...standing pat and doing nothing doesn't fix this team.
He gave everything for this franchise and got screwed. They couldnt even give him a minimum offer. You underestimate the psychological affect of replacing him with someone like Rasheed. There is just no "fire inside" on this team. You attribute that to age?
NBA basketball is a business...sad to say, but you have to choose which name on the jersey you'll root for.
as stated, i attribute the problem to FRUSTRATION - guys get older, slower, and injured - they can't do things they once did. it's not a total "lack of fire"...it's a lack of ability of the former years. it's sad to watch guys we love get old and have the inability to do things they once did. i remember watching the '92 celtics lose in the playoffs - i knew that era was over when they walked off the floor for the last time. i'm starting to sense the same with this team.
the only way to fix this is for danny to move ray allen - he has an expiring contract and just enough left in the tank that someone will take a flyer on him for a couple months. it's the ONLY way for Danny to improve this team, and most here know that.
Danny had his chance to improve this team and he signed Rasheed Wallace. Now Ray has to be the fall guy for Danny sucking this offseason? Sure Danny will prolly trade him if only to save his job.
The bottom line is that Ainge, who saved his job by pulling off the perfect storm of trades that yielded Allen and Garnett three years ago, has made it clear in private conversations that he's "not going back to the abyss," according to one person familiar with the discussions.
"Danny has said, 'I can't go back to square one where we were prior to the Garnett deal,'" the person said. "At the All-Star break, they’re going to look in the mirror and say, 'Cleveland got better, we can't beat Orlando, and we can't even beat the Hawks. We’re not going to win it this year.'"
