Think about it, if the C's were able to do one of these trade

Bos sends : Ray, BBD  + 1ST
Sac sends : Martin, Nocioni

OR

Bos sends: Ray,BBD,scal 2 picks(2 1sts )
Phi. Sends: Iguodala + Dalembert

Bos would still be able to compete for a championship just as well as they can with their current Roster, but they would be set up so much better with 3 young all star + all defensive level players learning from KG and PP for a few years. Then  if the C's

1) The C's sign Perk to a 4 year 32 mil contract
2) Let KG and Sheed expire and don't sign any other free agent beyond 2012

The C's would have Perk, Rondo + Iggy or Martin under contract for about 37 Mil

In 2012 Carmelo Anythony will be an unrestricted free agent. .....

Wouldn't a core of all-star and all defensive players like Rondo,Iggy or Martin(all star) and Perk be VERY attractive to melo? He would be the go to guy on offense with Rondo running the show and Iggy or Martin on the wing running with Rondo. Carmelo has almost an identical game to PP so he would fit in perfectly. I thhink there is a good chance he leaves Denver because Billups will be done, Kenyon Martin will be done and we would have so much more young proven talent for him to join

Pg: Rondo
SG:Martin or Iggy
SF: Melo
PF MLE
 C: Perk

If we aren't able to land Carmelo we wait til  the following year (2013)Dwight Howard is an Unrestricted free agent

We have a legit shot at a dynasty if Danny is able to acquire Martin or Iggy

It opens up a possibility ... but that fourth star is imperative and free agency would be the team's only hope of landing him. Low likelihood of playing out in the Celtics favour.

But this type of trade creates the opportunity and that's a good thing.

Doesn't a certain Mr. Durant become a free agent as well around this time??

I think you're right! In 2012 Durant would be an unrestricted free agent

So if we could add

Melo or Durant in 2012 or Dwight Howard in 2013 we would be so loaded

It can't hurt our chances that the C's are the most storied franchise in the NBA. It also doent hurt that Bill Russell and Dwight seem to have a very close relationship just look up Bill russell + Dwight Howard on youtube!

This would be my preference

1)Durant
2)Dwight
3)Melo

If the C's could add 1 of those to a core of Rondo, Iggy or Martin +Perk(trade Perk for a wing if they add Dwight) the C's would have a 5 year window to become a dynasty.

Directly?  No.  This team would still be short a true superstar from being a real contender again, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Unfortunately, I think Danny would have to get really creative to get either of those guys here, since I don't think either team is giving them up for ONLY expiring contracts.  So Danny would need to find a way, via a third team, to get them some legit assets to sweeten the pot.

We'd like to take Iggy, everyone (more or less) is crazy for him... But there is no trade rumor about. Sad to say: we are not going to take Iguodala.

Iguadala and Martin are decent players, but they are not the caliber of players who will drastically improve our title chances this year or beyond.

I agree adding Iguodala or Martin doesn't make the c's legit contender, but a core of Rondo, Iggy or Martin and perk could definitely attract a superstar player giving us a 5 -7 year period to dominate the NBA

The Celtics would be better long term with Martin vs. AI2.

With AI2, the Celtics would be building around three defense first guys, but no go to guy on the roster.

With Martin, the Celtics have that young go to guy.

I like the balance that Martin would provide, but AI2 is a better player overall.

Tough, I'd take either at this point. I'm 95% sure it won't happen though  :-\.

Kevin Martin is ideally a second or third scoring option. His lack of passing/playmaking ability limits him.

Iguodala is ideally a third scoring option. His main contributions come in the non-scoring departments.

It could lead to a dynasty but I think the one piece this team needs for a dynasty would be an active athletic defender/ rebounder at the 4.
I don't believe KG is going to revert back to his championship form. In order to create a dynasty they would need a young 4 who is athletic enough to learn to be an elite defender (I think Ty Thomas fits the bill) to lock down the defense for the future.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The Celtics would need to acquire a top 15 player, possibly a top 10 guy, via free agency in order to be a contender again.

The easy part is getting guys like Iggy and Martin.  Getting a superstar is the tough part.
