-He's undersized and not what we need at his position
-He has not improved his lift around the hoop and is a liability there.
-Some people really liked what Powe brought (including maturity), and so they pushed for more Powe minutes, which inherently meant less Davis.
-He does not rotate well on defense and is not a shot blocker. Our 2nd unit would really benefit from having a shot blocker so unfortunately the blame is partially on Davis (though it's not fair to blame him).
I flat out disagree with a few points here.
"he does not rotate well on defense" is just a fallacy. This might be the best part of his game. He is extremely quick laterally and gets to spots very, very well. With KG limping around, baby may be our best rotating big man.
"undersized and not what he need at his position" : He is our 4th big and produces very, very well. There are very few better 4th bigs in the league. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in bulk that he knows how to use, intelligence, and great lateral quickness.
Well I guess we disagree then, and I'm not sure how people think he is "the best defender on the team" (mmmbaby & others). I think he has relatively quick feet and does a pretty good job of getting into position of drawing an offensive foul on the other team, but I think his rotations are bad. I see him respond too slowly or not know exactly where to go multiple plays a game. Personally I think Davis makes easy things look difficult.. i.e. where a better player would simply jog over and pickup the ball, Davis dives and flops around.
As far as him being our 4th big, with a healthy team I don't want to see the 4th big get more than 5 minutes a game. Thefore, it doesn't matter how good he is for a 4th big b/c on a playoff team (esp in the playoffs) b/c with a shortened rotation Davis will be left out, and rightfully so.
The topic of this thread is crazy though.. Davis is not the issue. It's the fact that this roster has to rely heavily on players of Davis' caliber.. THAT is the problem. If the Celtics package Davis in a trade I'd be ecstatic. I would welcome someone like Dalembert with open arms..
