I have yet to seen one trade idea that fixes the Celtics problems.

This team needs a wakeup call.  They are cruising through parts of games.  Good teams are using that cruising moments to get hot, and then, it is to late for the Celtics to get back to how they are playing.

Let's be honest, the Celtics played soft and stupid after having a halftime rest.  That's not tired legs, that's lazy minds.

Whatever they are doing between halfs and quarters, they need to change it.  They need to start coming out really, really angry.  They need to come out with something to prove.

Instead, they seem to get big leads and full heads.  They get happy about themselves.

Doc need to channel his inner Bill Parcells and tell these players all the terrible things going on on the floor, even when the team has a double diget lead.

Sorry, but the real useless player on the floor right now is Sheed ... if anyone should be traded, it's him.
Unfortunately Sheed won't be tradeable for two more years.

I'm interested in Hinrich and Thomas, but not at the price of Ray Allen.

I'd definitely make a Ray call to Sac, and I'd call George Shinn too to assess his mood.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Any chance someone gives up an expiring contract for him?

Give Danny + ownership some more wiggle room financially in a Ray Allen trade and the MLE next summer.

OK, I've been positive all year, but today was really tough to take. So here are my "unvarnished" opinions.

1)Ray Allen IS one of the problems and is pretty much washed up. Has a few great games here and there, and is incredibly skilled but is mostly ineffective these days. And I don't care that "He's in the best shape of anyone on the team". So are Chuck Norris and even Jack Lalanne in great shape- doesn't mean they're still in their prime!

2) Letting Leon go and signing Rasheed Wallace was just plain stupid. Let the results speak for themselves, no need to even mention such things as attitude, hustle, chemistry, energy, rebounds. It would be great if Doc would have the nerve to cut Wallace's minutes drastically, because pretty much all season he's been just awful. He's been Antoine without the hustle and desire.

3)PP and KG look really old. I'm still hoping that somehow they'll recover by playoff time, because IMO they're both still hurt.

4)Glen Davis is a severely limited player. Plays hard and has his moments, but plays like he's 6'3". Call me a moron, but I'd rather see Scal get the playing time, or maybe not, but Baby is just not impressive.

And the last couple of seasons, I hated when Danny brought new players in during the season, because I didn't think it was necessary. But this season is different- time for some new blood, but not some has-been like Cassell. And I don't follow the league closely enough to know all the players, but some names I've seen mentioned here that sound good to me are Iggy, Loul Deng, Hinrich.

Anyway, number 18 is still a possibility I suppose, but I'd need about 20-1 odds to bet on it right now. The one thing that could make all the difference in the world would be Garnett being 100%. It's really that simple- that would probably be enough to overcome all the other problems.

Orlando -- Nope, big man rotation is packed with talent already.
Cleveland -- Doubt it, big man rotation is playing very well.
Atlanta -- No, happy with their current big man rotation.

I don't see anyone else in the Eastern Conference being willing to consider taking on Sheed.

Lakers -- No need with Gasol/Bynum/Odom
Spurs -- Doubt it
Nuggets -- interested but have no contracts to match up with Sheed that they'd be willing to part with. No workable offer.
Mavs -- interested in Sheed. Drew Gooden? Nothing else to offer. Very unlikely.
Jazz -- nope, too many financial issues already
Rockets -- no, cap flexibility is priority
Blazers -- no, too much history, not willing to part with own talent
Oklahoma -- no, too old and not good enough
Phoenix -- no, finances
Memphis -- not interested in long money, contracts that go beyond this season

Dallas is the only team that I think may be interested in Rasheed Wallace and able to make an offer for him ... and they only really have Drew Gooden to offer and it's hard to see them agreeing to that. So even the Mavs are very unlikely.

No trade market for Rasheed Wallace. Not for an expiring contract.

Which means we have to sweeten the pot.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Not a lot to offer on the roster.

(1) As part of a larger trade with Ray Allen.
(2) Or including future first round draft picks.
(3) I don't think BBD is enough to get anything done. Or anyone else of that bench for that matter.

Sheed + the first round pick looks the best route.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
no team outside of contention will want him...

...and no team that's in contention is going to give the celtics an out for signing him.

face it...he's ours for (most likely) the duration of his contract.  seemed smart at the time, but 'sheed looks like he's aged 10 years during the last few months.

We all know that it takes half a season or so for players to gell after a major trade, so why not wait until the summer and see what can be brought back with a S&T with Ray?  No realistic trade is going to boost the Cs into first place by the end of the regular season.  I think the best course of action is hold firm, see if the team can pull it together, and then if things don't, then look into trades in the offseason.
Celtics fan for life.

I agree this team seems like they don't have the hunger. Sorry, but this team needs a makeover and if they don't do anything at the deadline to help this team improve i'm done watching them for the year i just can't keep watching this team playing with no fire. So, Danny its on you now !!!

Celtics need to make changes and it starts with a trade !!!!

Ainge needs to make a trade they need a makeover, before its too late. We need changes and players that have the drive to win (not talking about KG, Paul, Rondo or some of the others)but there are others that seem to not care for example this team is one of the worse rebounding team in the league. And the most important thing in rebounding is desire, heart, willingness or whatever you want to call it, but whatever you want to call it this team does not have it. Danny, make a trade !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what will be the new rumore as of tomorrow 2.8.10 for RayAllen? Any guess's? I say Kevin Martin rumor may start to gain some steam, I think it is the trade that makes the most sense for us now and in the future!
See what did I tell you!!
L.A. Clippers
Derrick Rose Blake Griffin 4.11 5.3 5.15 6.11 7.15 8.11 9.15 10.11 11.15 12.11 13.15
