  • Rondo = Good
Ainge would only need to move four players in order to sign Lebron and Bosh this summer.

LOL do you know anything about how the NBA works?

Well, I can tell you for sure Lebron is not going to Boston, no matter what Danny does,
simply because Lebron will be wearing #6 as his uniform number. So I'm assuming that means Boston was not one of his possible destinations, being that no.6 is already in the rafters.

Lol, Lebron is going to go wherever the money is, NOT the team that has the number 6 available on the back of a jersey.

Did you fail reading comprehension as a child? My original post was from 2/06. I bumped the topic because I thought it would be interesting to see IF we could go back to the trade deadline, how people would feel about not blowing up the team. I guess reading all 12 posts in this thread was too much effort for you...

Obviously Lebron is not going to come here now, since there is really no way to gain the necessary cap space to sign him anyways. Back at the trade deadline it would have been possible though. The original story about Lebron changing his number broke on ESPN on March 2nd, and that was well after the trade deadline. Also, in order to change your number, you just need to file for it prior to the upcoming season and have it approved. He could change his number again (from 6 to something else) if he signs somewhere that has that number retired.

I'm dissapointed that no one has even bothered to reply to the questions I posed, but I guess thats how this site works. I should just stick to SoSH, where half the people that start threads here would be banned.

No, I don't think Danny is going to punt at all.  This team has the talent.  One of the big issues is the injuries.  Small adjustments may be made but I don't see a blow-up.  I think Danny knows that he has the talent.  The problem has been keeping them on the floor.

There are no realistic trades they can make this season that would give us a shot at multiple championships.

I also think that any dreams of seeing Wade, Lebron, or Bosh playing in green in the near future are just that, dreams.  It's not happening.  The allure of playing for a franchise like the Celtics just doesn't matter to guys these days; dollar signs does.
I agree with you about this team having the talent, keeping them on the floor but i think the talent after #5 is suspect.Danny should look to rebuild the bench as best he can with a few athletic younger rebounder/slasher-types,with maybe a true backup pg taller than 6'.

example of a slasher/rebounder-type to start with would be a player like Travis Outlaw(Clippers),if Danny could get him.

No, even with shoddy play of late I wouldn't go back and trade those 4 players for a shot at a big free agent prize.  I'm in the naive camp.  I think we're going all the way this year.
Plus, I want to rebuild with a shiftier plan that comes out of nowhere.

Thus, I'd like one title, one shifty rebuilding plan and a side of fries....

The changes you make begin with the move of Garnett to center and the trading, unfortunately, of Perkins.

Then, you gut the bench. I really liked the Wallace and Daniels signings coming into this year; Sheed is a dog and Daniels hasn't been on the floor enough to make an impact.

So you get as young as you can, with quicker, athletic slashers. And you admit in doing so that you're probably not going to get any help from a weak draft.

I was following the KG at center plan in another thread and I definitely like the idea.  I'm a big believer in Rondo's game and I'd like to see what he could do with a slew of athletic finishers/rebounders.  How about Perk and Big Baby for Thaddeus Young and a Philly second rounder?

Regarding the original post-
I'm baffled by the love everyone seems to have for Bosh. He's just never impressed me that much, not sure exactly why.
And as for blowing it all up, I probably would let Ray go, unless he signs a really cheap contract. Yes, he's still capable of great games, but they're few and far between, and as far as we know, injuries are not the reason.
But if Danny can find a taker for Rasheed this summer, and get something for Davis, that would be a good start.

I do wonder what kind of a deal you could do with OKC, which really needs a defensive center.
