Can't say that I am surprised.  But I do find it ironic that CSN is calling rumors "bull".

Actually, reading that article, I am not sure I buy it.  All Blakely is going on is his opinion about what he thinks of how much the rumor would help the team.  I agree that there is really nothing to the rumor (it seems like it started from speculation, and grew).  But Blakely is not shooting down this rumor based on knowledge that it isn't happening, or that Danny is not interested.  He is just speculating, based on his opinion of Hinrich, that it wouldn't make the team better, therefore its not happening.

The problem with this type of speculation is that he does not know what Danny thinks of Thomas and Hinrich.  Perhaps one or both of those guys is a Binky of Danny's, and Danny is convinced it would improve the team (I think its a possibility that it could).

I would be shocked to learn that the the two teams had not discussed a deal along these lines.  If they have not, Ainge isn't doing his job.

Although I wish he could definitively say that this deal wasn't going to happen it's just his opinion on a trade rumor. Completely agree.

I hope Ainge is looking for more than what Chicago has to offer, but this may be a fallback if other moves fall through.

Judging by your various recent posts, you'd rather trade for Kirk Heinrich than Iguodala? Is that fair?

I agree with this.  This is not the type of deal that is done two weeks before the deadline, however, if neither team can get a better deal, this is the type of thing that could be revisited at the 11th hour, because in certain permutations, it makes sense for both teams, even though its not really a homerun for anyone.

disagree. too much of the offense is based around ray to do a trade for a inconsistent back-up guard who is overpaid and can't fill that role, regardless of whether we get back another highly inconsistent back-up (thomas, salmons) as well.

the Cs need to get someone who fulfills ray's minutes if they trade him, not a compilation of complimentary parts.

i predict the bulls will be unable to trade heinrich. no one is paying this dude $9mil next year and $8mil two years from now considering the tax implications for higher payroll teams, the cap implications for lower payroll teams, the current economic climate and the bleak CBA outlook. not the Cs or Lakers. who else?

Well, it depends on the rest of the package.  If I have to take Brand along with Iguodala, then I would prefer Hinrich.  If I have to take Salmons to get Hinrich, then I would not do the deal.

The Chicago deal is risky, not because of Hinrich but because Tyrus Thomas is an unkown quantity.  He's very athletic, but so far he has been a disappointment in the NBA.  And even if you think he has promise, you would have to negotiate an extension with TT for reaonable dollars.

On the other hand, with Iguodala you are taking on a huge guaranteed contract that hamstrings your cap flexibility.

All other things being equal, I would take Monta Ellis over Iguodala or Hinrich.  But of course, all other things are never equal.

At first, I though this was nuts...no way they trade Deng.

But then I wondered if he isn't what they hoped he was?  He's a great player, but no first option, maybe best as a third.

I still don't think they trade him unless they get something really great in return.  It would be a complete blow up if they traded him, and playoff teams tend not to do that.

Yeah, I just don't see Chicago trading Deng.  Yes, he is overpaid, but they have been notorious for overvaluing their young guys in trades.  Besides, if they open up some cap space, and go after a star or two this summer, Deng will be a perfect 3rd option with Rose/free agent star.
