I think is time to come to the reality that TA and SWilliams give you more than EHouse and RWallace.  I have come full circle. I think this is the way to go going forward.  I am not naive thou, and I know Doc is not going to replace Wallace for Williams.....but this is the way I feel

What do you think?

No on both.

Wallace is clearly the better player.  End of story.

When Daniels comes back, he once again becomes the backup PG while being able to defend SG/SFs.  House can then become just a shooter on offense.  Catch and shoot.  Catch and shoot.

TA and Eddie give you different things. It's not really one or the other. And we haven't seen that Williams gives you more than Sheed, at least not im meaningful minutes.

Hide Williams under the bench and continue to the same line up since it's the most talented 10 players they have.

No on both with extreme prejudice.

I'm still confused as to the degrading of house's game.  The dude is both clutch and game changer.  So there is 0% chance his minutes are limited.

Would go with yes on TA because Eddie is so one-dimensional that Tony, despite his flaws, is better at more things.  Unfortunately, Eddie is our only shooting wing off the bench, so combinations become a problem...unless:

Scal plays the 3, which sucks.

Walker (who is developing some range) suddenly develops a lot faster, which isn't happening.  He needs more time.

Sheed is behind the 3 instead of on the box, which sucks.

So it's less about what Tony gives than how this team is built (few wing shooters off the bench).  Tony will sit.

No on Shelden. I like him and what he brings, BUT........Sheed needs to play himself into shape (Yah, I know, sad but true), otherwise we will never get out of him what we need.

Yes on Allen, but with a qualifier. I agree with the other posts on here that say start him. He performs better as a starter and Ray would be a devastating 6th man and game finisher (you saw last night) whose hands do you want the bball in when we're being fouled at the end of a game.

Can't do T.Allen over House, and absolutely can't do Williams over Wallace.  You can't play Williams because he just isn't good.  But with Allen, its a little more complicated.

You need House's shooting on that second unit, and with Daniels back, it will allow House to play more off the ball, and make him more effective.  What they should be doing, providing Allen continues to play effectively, is using Daniels, Allen, and House, allowing Rondo, Pierce, and Ray to get more rest.  The rotation will be tightened in the playoffs, and I think other than Wallace and Daniels, other guys will be moved in and out based on matchups and situations, but for the rest of the regular season, using a full 5 man bench (maybe not at the same time, but use them all) would be beneficial to this team.

What do you think?

I think you're a spoiled fan to be comparing Wallace to Williams.

I also think you should never work for the front office of the Celtics if you'd honestly take Williams over Wallace.

Now, TA over House? Not when Daniels comes back. Daniels will be handing it off to House, although I wouldn't turn down the possibility of TA playing the 2 off the bench while Eddie plays the 1 and Daniels the 3.

i am shocked.  Play williams over Davis.  Wallace and Perkins should switch.

I agree that Shelden should see the floor more often in place of BBD. Do a platoon thing like we used to do with Powe and BBD.

Wallace is better than both BBD and Shelden, despite his flaws.

TA should still get playing time based on his recent production, even when Marquis comes back.

I agree that we should do Eddie / TA / Marquis as the 1-2-3 bench rotation.  Marquis should be taking minutes away from Scal and Ray, not TA.

Tony over House. Tony over Scal's minutes at SF.
Sheldon over Scal period. Sheldon not over Sheed, but Sheldon over Davis for a short stint to see who plays better.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Wallace is an enigma for sure but he is better than davis & williams put together.  It is really up to doc to get him on the low post for inside out game to spread floor and give him 1 on 1 down low (where he is soooo good).  Another team doubles we have PP, RA and EH shooting 3's.  I did like the bit we saw of Williams though, would like to see him signed on for longer.  Davis can't loose any minutes or we'll really see big baby.
Eddie is 1 dimensional for sure, if the jumper isn't going he's not very useful.  Also is it me or has he been shooting a bit wild this year?  To me if the lineup calls for it, tony.  This would mean we'd need ray in (or scal) for spreading the floor.  Tony is mid range & driver only, he has shown to me much improved ball skills at bringing the ball up.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
It's not entirely impossible to have a second unit of Rasheed, Davis, Tony, Eddie, and Marquis- meaning Tony and Eddie both get to play. I know there is usually a starter out there with the second unit (Paul or Ray), but this works for spreading the floor purposes (Rasheed, Eddie, and Davis to an extent) and your two slashers are Tony and Marquis. Williams still doesn't make the 2nd unit, but I think Tony has proven himself enough to get some playing time.
