Marquis can't come back soon enough.
Philly:

Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Guys, it's not all doom and gloom.  Here are some positives I've thought of:

-Since PP came back from his knee infection he hasn't looked healthy.  Perhaps this time off will give his legs the rest they haven't had the past two playoff years.

-Last night's 4th quarter lineup of KG / Sheed / R. Allen / T. Allen / Rondo was VERY good.  I'm not saying Tony is an upgrade over Piece, but he fit in well into that lineup and is playing great (for Tony).  Tony is also playing better D than Pierce was.

-This might be the catalyst Danny needs to make a bold move that COULD make the team better this year and the next few.  Would if the Celtics did actually acquire Iquodala in a complex trade involving Ray?  You're telling me a hungry lineup of KG / Rondo / Iquodala / Perkins (or sheed) / Tony Allen  wouldn't be fun to watch AND very effective?!

-This doesn't mean Pierce misses the playoffs.  Without Pierce it's not like we're not going to MAKE the playoffs... It all comes down to what happens IN the playoffs.   There is no indication that Pierce won't be playing for the Celtics in the playoffs.

if it's true, we're finished, done, for many years, since this is the last year for this team.

We would still have rondo locked up, a very tradable ray allen contract, Paul with an opt out and KG with 2 years left till he's off the books.

We would certainly not be a contender for the championship for the next few years, but as threads have gone into, this team is much better positioned to stay competitive post big three than people think.

It won't suddenly be 2007 again.

Max is hamming it up right now.  His story has gotten worse each time he has told it the last 20 minutes.  I am a Max fan, but you can't put any credence into anything he says.

I cannot believe how bad this is. This ripped my heart out, as the Captain is my favorite player and has been since he got here. I guess it will be fun now to see how many games they can win without the Captain.

Gotta admire you. You might be one of the few people on this planet who can find a silver lining in Paul Pierce breaking his foot.

I'm reserving full panic mode until i hear what kinda of break it is.

if it's a 4-6 week injury, we'll still have an outside shot of being full strength by the playoffs.

If it's season ending, we have to move ray now.

Won't win next year either.  I am firmly convinced that the window for this team closes after this year.  So if PP is out for the year, we may have to blow it up completely.
Not necessarily.  There's enough here that a move or two puts this team right back in contention.  Ray's expiring contract has a ton of value.  Plus the other contracts.  They can easily position for a run next year assuming Pierce and KG come back fully healthy.

How about some props for the captain?  How tough is this guy to play the second half on a broken foot?  Look at his career: the knocked out teeth, the knee in the finals, how he barely has missed any time except for 07.  That's one tough hombre

we already knew this. The guy got stabbed like 10 times and was back on the court in a month .
