With Boston's other expiring contracts they can afford this trade even with Rondo's pay raise next year. If they use their picks and add two vet minimum players next year, their roster salary will not change at all. They add much needed athleticism, bench depth, and start rebuilding now without shutting the window or blowing it up. A core of Rondo, Iggy, and Perk is not a bad future.

Philly
Out: Iggy and Dalembert
In: Ray Allen and F. Garcia
Obviously a salary dump. They save tons of money going forward, get out of Sammy's contract, and get a decent young wing.

Sac
Out: Nocioni and Garcia
In: Dalembert
Finally frees up the log jam at small forward while getting rid of a few long-term and unwanted contracts. It saves money down the road and addresses a position of need.

I think the Celtics take on too much long term salary for this deal to happen.

This actually makes a little sense.  I don't think Philly gets enough, but pieces could be moved around a bit to make this work.

I would be very happy if this trade went down.

Look at our team:

Rondo / Marquis / Eddie
Iggy / TA / Giddens
Pierce / Nocioni / Walker
Garnett / BBD / Scal
Perk / Sheed / Shelden

Suddenly we have a good bench with a real SF and a real ball handler at backup point (or as close as we can get).  Iggy gives us athleticism and perimeter defense and a real slasher in the starting lineup.  We can also go to him late in games if Pierce / Garnett are looking spent or their shots aren't falling.  You can't run the same kinds of plays for Iggy as you do for Ray Allen, but there are plays you can run for him.  He is used to being "the man" for his team down the stretch.

I think it would take some adjustment time for Iggy to get used to being the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th option on offense (depending on matchups / the situation), but his youth and talent make this trade too good to pass up.
