So, my oldest buddy (who grew up with me in gold ole Western Mass a die-hard C's fan) lives in DC and was at the game tonight. Here's the text he sent me after the game:

"So at least Big Baby's good for something. At the wiz game and they had a promo if they miss both free throws u get a chick fil a sandwich. Guess who missed both?!?"

Yeah, Mike Gorman was talking about that just as Glen missed his second, and the crowd erupted ... although I could have sworn Mike said Ice Cream sandwhich. ;)

Rondo also missed 2 in the fourth. I imagine when the Bullets [sic] are getting blown out, the fans much yell at the players to intentionally foul opposing players. Make attending worthwhile.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
do they have "gilbert arenas replica squirt gun" promotional night?  (figured they'd bust out the Bullets throwback jerseys that evening)...

the crowd was quiet all night long......so funny that this is what got them animated. you could hear people razzing BBD as soon as he entered the game.

that being said, that unit to start the fourth (TA, Sheed, BBD, House, Allen, i believe) got us the lead and were very key last night. BBD made a few nice passes, one that lead to a TA dunk.

i do worry that other teams will implement the "hack-a-rondo" theory" as washington did last night. rondo missed two, then stepped up to hit 2 to essentially ice the game.

i know he has worked at it, but rondo has to be able to nail FT's. your best ball handler cannot be a FT liability at the end of games.

Meh, I used to think that but I think he's improved enough to avoid that kind of scenario.

My only Rondo concern in the playoffs is that he is still very hesitant to shoot a wide open 15 footer when they give it to him.  I understand that he feels he can get someone else a good shot, or that he shoots a running floater better, but if he stepped up and hit that with regularity it would require the opposing defense to completely change the way they played.
