From Day 1 of the free agency period, the Celtics were drooling at the thought of attaining the former Piston. When Garnett suffered his injury last season, the lack of frontcourt depth on the Celtics' roster was apparent, and Ainge didn't want that vulnerability to show again.

When he flew to Detroit for a face-to-face meeting with Wallace, he had a certain Big Three accompany him in the conference room. Pierce, Garnett and Allen all flew in to Detroit to let Wallace know how important his addition would be and how much they wanted him to be a part of their next title run.

Ainge laid the Red carpet for Sheed. And gave him a contract which is 3 years too long. In return, he comes in out of shape. He starts yapping his mouth accumulating Techs like its 2001. He plays lazy defense. He refuses to rebounds. No shot is ever a bad for Sheed. All of that and he somehow has the kahunas to say

this team [Celtics] is talented enough and that Detroit team was talented enough to win a game without me

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Oh how I wish Danny had gone against my wishes and pursued McDyess.

Can't say I don't agree with you 100%.  All the talk about Sheed being one of the most intense players in the league and wanting to win is garbage.  Pure garbage.

Way to make a definite judgment on Sheed when we are just halfway through the season. ::)

Sheed's aiight.  But man has this team disappointed in free agent signings.  Cassell was washed up.  Marbury was washed up.  And now Sheed is washed up.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

There are many more problems with this team that do not include Rasheed. I agree he hasn't exactly been the 6th man we were expecting, but I am going to reserve judgment until we are fully healthy again and actually start winning some games as a team.

I know there are some questions about his defensive intensity, but I was at the Orlando game and he played MUCH better defense on Howard than Perk did (who is supposedly the Dwight Howard stopper)...Sheed has been streaky, but I don't think he has necessarily been horrible. Let's see how he does when the games actually matter.

Not saying he deserves all the blame, and I'm not putting it all on him.  However, he is clearly part of the problem and he has not performed well by almost any standard.  There's nothing wrong with stating that.

saying he has erased everything the big 3 have built is just not true. can he play better? yes....is he the biggest reason why they are struggling? no way

that's what happens when you go after guys waay passed their prime based more upon rep and the esteem of the big three than basketball skills.

Well, I just believe that the best is yet to come with Sheed. He was the best Big to take at the time, and Danny did it. He played big in the Spurs game, and the Christmas Day game for us.

Sure I would've loved to see more production last night, but I believe he'll pan out.

Ray Allen is down in every category, why isn't he being blamed for this? Why isn't KG being blamed for his lack of rebounding? Why isn't Rondo being blamed for his lack of offense down the stretch?

The team is 15-4 with Marquis Daniels playing.

They're 15-11 without him.

I understand that the KG injury was in there. But what has changed since his return?

they were 4-5 with him out and now they're 3-2 with him back.

You can't blame fingers when players are trying to account for the absence of other players. Pretty soon we'll see the full picture.

sheed played some pretty good defense yesterday and vs the magic...and in a 7 game series he is going to be very important.
