Do Tyrus Thomas and Kirk Hinrich make the Celtics that much better over Ray Allen?

Wasn't the third guy a on the team a mid first round pick prospect?
It might make us worse now, but Ty Thomas as a future replacement for KG gives us a brighter future, without taking away too much this year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Thomas is a RFA after the season, so the C's would have to resign him.  He also has some major attitude issues, that would make me really hesitate to give him a big contract.

I've seen nothing out of Thomas to think acquiring him will give us a brighter future; he's underachieved big time since joining the NBA.

I have a terrible feeling Danny is going to make a deal at the deadline most of us fans don't like (like the time he dealt Antoine). A package of Hinrich and Miller would kill any chance we had at a title. If it is true that the Celtics are not willing to take back a bad contract, then we will not be getting anything near fair value for Ray.

I like the idea of Hinrich being the first guard off the bench but I don't like the idea of him being a starting two guard for the Celtics.

I don't think that unit benefits much from having another ball-handler/passer. A better scorer would add more to that unit which Hinrich doesn't bring either. Also not wild about having an undersized two guard being the main defender against Joe Johnson and/or Vince Carter and/or a Kobe Bryant come playoff time.

If Hinrich is acquired, I think the Celtics need to get a new wing who can shoot and play solid D. Even if that wing is only a 20 minute a night player (a Rasual Butler type would be acceptable). Someone who'll allow Hinrich to remain on the bench where Hinrich can have more of a positive impact and give solid contributions in the starting lineup.

I'm all for this package right here.

Ray Allen isn't the player he once was and he's not getting better. Our only two options are to sign him for less money, or to just let him walk in FA. Either way we don't have the money to go out and get more players. This trade would get us two Players that we can have for a while.

Shelden Williams isn't playing right now so he definitely wouldn't be playing once Tyrus Thomas got here.

Kirk Hinrich would give us an excellent defensive one two punch at the PG position, he also fills that void as a backup ball handler. Kirk is under contract for the next 2 years.
*Another plus is that he gives us a future trade chip for any teams that need a starting PG

Tyrus gives us offensive rebounding and energy. We're almost last in the league in both right now.

Jerome James is a throw in expiring contract.

As bad as Sheed has been, that is not really on him.  The whole team has been having a tough year rebounding.

I think with the way TA is playing Hinrich comes off the bench and TA starts, or maybe Daniels starts.

What happens to the big man rotation if Thomas was acquired?

In the playoffs: 29-33 minutes for Perk. 35-37 minutes for KG. That leaves 26-32 minutes for the bench. Is Tyrus Thomas the first big off the bench? Or Rasheed? Do they split the time evenly? Or give 18-22 minutes to one and 6-12 minutes to the other?

Tyrus Thomas would be very valuable in matching up against Orlando and have value against Atlanta too. Does he help against Cleveland? Or the Lakers?

I don't like the idea of starting a non-shooter alongside Rajon Rondo. That is a major weakness offensively. Especially with Perk also on the floor. Only two players who can consistently hit jump shots and they're your go-to scorers in the lineup.

I think KG's minutes will be down a bit, and I also think Thomas could play some minutes at SF (he has covered Lebron well in the past).

Please indulge me because I'm going to quote myself from last night. Apparently Sheridan either is Rondohondo or has been reading his posts.

The only reason to bring Tyrus Thomas to Boston would be to improve Glen Davis's year.
