Ray is a bona fide shooter and one of the classiest guys in the league, that's why it kills me to say this but it's his time to be traded.

His contract is up at the end of the year (19 million) and there are alot of teams out there who want to shed salaray for the big free agency summer coming up. Now's the time to rejuvinate our team.

I came up with a bunch of, in my mind, realistic trades that will help us win #18....

1st:
Celts get: Andre Iguodala & Jason Kapono
Philly gets: Ray Allen, Brian Scalabrine, Bill Walker, possible draft pick

2nd:
Celts get: Kevin Martin & Andres Nocioni
kings get: Ray Allen, Glen Davis, & J.R. Giddens

3rd:
Celts get: Caron Butler and Mike James
Wiz get: Ray Allen, Bill Walker, possible draft pick.

4th:
Celts get: Al Harrington & Jared Jefferies
Knicks get: Ray Allen & JR Giddens

5th:
Celts get: Josh Howard and Jason Terry
Mavs get: Ray Allen, Eddie House, Bill Walker

6th:
Celts get: Jason Richardson & Leandro Barbosa
Suns get: Ray Allen, Bill Walker, 1st rounder

7th:
Celts get: Richard Hamilton & Tayshaun Prince
Detroit gets: Ray Allen, Glen Davis, & Bill Walker

8th:
Celts get: Andris Biedrins, Corey Maggette, & Raja Bell
GSW's get: Ray Allen & Kendrick Perkins
(This one wont happen. Just having some fun on the trade machine)

All of these are our most likely trading partners if we decide to make a move. They're all pretty self explainatory but the beauty of them all is that every one of these teams are strictly looking to shed salary, they want nothing to do with Ray when the season ends. That's why i say we make a run at him in the offseason for the MLE so he can finish his career in green

I heard that the Kings have already shut down Dalas? Mavs wanted Martin for Howard and the Kings refused the deal so why would they take Ray's contract?

Rays deal is expiring...Howards is not. And the kings save ALOT more money with this trade.

I realize that it could end up being a huge mistake, but I really would like to see us do the whole "take on Dalembert's contract and get Iguodala". If Philly was willing to blow it up and waive Ray, I think we would win a championship. Yes, it might hurt in a couple of years. But this team wins a championship if we get back to playing historically great defense.

Iguodala / Rondo / Garnett / Perkins / Tony Allen / Dalembert

Those are all plus to "plus plus" defenders. Let Rondo + Iguodala + Tony Allen play high energy defense with Garnett directing the show and Perkins shutting down the big men. Defense = easy baskets which would make up for any loss of offense.

The Dalembert deal is bad, but he's still another starter quality big man than can defend and rebound, and he would have one less year after we walked away with a title this year.

Don't get me wrong, I'll enjoy rooting for these guys if there are no trades made at all, but I really believe this one could put us over the top and cement our identity as a defense / intensity team.

Like this. Only problem is that Iggy doesn't stretch the floor as much as Ray. However, what Iggy brings (defense, athleticism) makes up for that. We also get a reliable bench shooter in Kapono, which is what we're missing with Sheed and House's struggles from deep.

This is probably the best. We get a player with everything Ray has but better (although he is slightly injury prone, and possibly an even worse defender). As such, no mess-up with the chemistry. We also get that backup SF. He expires with KG, so I'm not too worried about taking on that contract. (As an aside though: people think he won't fit with Tyreke Evans, so how will he fit here as option #3?)

2 SFs. I have a concern over Caron's consistency/passion. But we do get a backup PG.

4th:
Celts get: Al Harrington & Jared Jefferies
Knicks get: Ray Allen & JR Giddens

Two SFs in the lineup. Doesn't work. Don't think Harrington is that much of an upgrade over Ray anyway. Jeffries, unless he can be the backup SF, is redundant, and expensive.

5th:
Celts get: Josh Howard and Jason Terry
Mavs get: Ray Allen, Eddie House, Bill Walker

Good trade, but unlikely. Both Howard and Terry are almost as good as Ray. It'd be like trading Kobe for Joe Johnson and Vince Carter or something.

6th:
Celts get: Jason Richardson & Leandro Barbosa
Suns get: Ray Allen, Bill Walker, 1st rounder

I like this a lot, actually. Backup PG, plus an athletic, defensive version of Ray to replace him.

7th:
Celts get: Richard Hamilton & Tayshaun Prince
Detroit gets: Ray Allen, Glen Davis, & Bill Walker

Good backup SF, good Ray replacement. However, Hamilton doesn't have Ray's range, and they're both too old.

Wrong; Howard has a team option for next year so for all intents and purposes he is expiring money.  That's what gives him so much trade value.

Yeah, at this point I'd be ecstatic if we managed to get Iguodala for Ray, even if it meant taking on Dalembert and maybe losing Perk.

We really need an infusion of defensive ability and athleticism to put this team over the top, and adding Iggy would definitely do that.  People who say Iggy won't spread the floor enough need only to look at what Tony Allen was able to do in the second quarter of today's game to see why that's not a problem.

Yeah Iguadola actually averages 5.4apg! which can give Rondo a lift in handling and distributing

However whatever trade goes down i just hope something good goes down! and something that makes this team better! Ray Allen at 34 is a good 6th man in this league much like what Ginobli is doing in San Antonio! but as a starter the intensity of the game just took him out of it! because of his age!

Ppl complain about Pierce well guess what he got Rondo 3 open looks and Rondo didnt do anything, and he got Ray a wide open 3 and Ray didnt make it! those are 4 assists! and the guys didnt make shots! thats why i suggested a PG that can take a jump shot! to put in the final minutes of the game!

Remember Sam Cassel 2 yrs ago?
