The worst thing?  Probably the reaction from many Celtics fans, who have given up on this team in late January.

Thank god we play them again in 18 days.  A win there would certainly put an end to all this over-reaction.

agreed....let's hope this is exactly what happens.

at least we did not let a guy drive baseline for an uncontested game winning layup today......at least we made a great player make a tough shot. that's progress, right?

The worst thing is that Kobe and Gasol had an off game and they still won.

The thing I disliked the most about the loss was the part about not winning.

Totally agree with these two post...  Losing sucks and especially against the Lakers and also it disgust me to see Celtics fans giving up on this team when we still have a shot at winning the ship, and people saying you're not realistic if you still believe we can win it.

Roy is wrong. People aren't giving up on this team. They are making very reasonable predictions about this team's ability, or lack thereof, to be a true contender for the championship. The fact that you disagree with those predictions doesn't mean they are wrong, or annoying for that matter. The worst part of this loss, from my perspective, was the team's tight play down the stretch. They looked like a young team that hadn't been here before...when in fact they have a veteran team, have won a title, and were playing at home.

Sorry drkalloch it is very wrong when you are writing off a team with three hall of famers on it with a championship under their belt, one of the best young point guards in the league, one of the best defenses in the leauge and also when it is only January and they are going through an awful strech and still almost beat the best team in the NBA right now.

They're going through a bad strech.  They are too good and have to much talent to not bounce out of this lull and not have a chance at winning the championship.

I hate when people change the name of the team or player they don't like.  It's a pet peeve.  Like Cheetah Woods.  Or Gay-Rod.  Or the Fakers.

Carry on.

  • Thank you Eddie!
The fact that we lost to the Fakers is the worst thing about this loss to the Fakers.

Besides that, as correct as the pushing call on Pierce at the end of the game was, Kobe certainly would not have been called for that had the roles been reversed.

To be fair to ESPN, they did give major props to Perk in the 4th citing all the little things he does every night, even calling for him to be 1st team All-NBA Defense.

I'm starting to think you guys can't read. I am not "writing them off." I, along with many others, are saying that we do not believe that this team is in a position to win 16 games in the postseason. They are the 6th best team in the league (or thereabouts), which means they have a chance to win, yes, but are a clear step down from the upper echelon. Can that change in 10 weeks, sure, and obviously I hope it does, but we can't assume it will.

4th quarter offensive coaching

Or, to jumble your thoughts, offensive 4th quarter coaching.

I'm not going to argue the point, but there are an awful lot of fans who are making definitive statements with little to no room for wiggle room about how this team has absolutely zero hope at a championship.  Maybe it's semantics, but to me that's giving up.

To each their own, of course; fans come from all different philosophies.  Maybe it's coping, maybe it's a need to bring others down, maybe it's an honest assessment.  Folks are entitled to their opinion.  However, it's one of the things that gets under my skin, when people make it sound like there's absolutely no hope for this season.

There are those who have jumped the shark.

If the Celtics start winning, some will continue to say "Celtics are done"

Some will say "Celtics are the historically best team ever"
