I know I'm not the first person to notice this but the NBA is definitely a guards league right now. I was just curious as to your guys opinion on when you think it's going to turn around and their be a surplus of good big men instead of guards. Interesting topic if you ask me.

Except it still takes an all-star level big man to win a title.

It may be a guard's league but players with guard-like skills are also getting bigger and bigger.  For every undersized 2 guard who dominates the ball like a point guard, there's a SF or PF who is 6'8'' or 6'9'' and shoots the ball well and has a good handle.

That just makes dominant post scorers rarer and more valuable, because you still can't have a great team without somebody who can balance your offense with looks in the post.

The truth is that the NBA has always been a guards league. There have been some great big men in the past several decades, but there have been far more great guards and wings.

While this is true, it really had nothing to do with what the poster said, and it comes off as almost a troll post. I've been noticing a lot of these from you lately.

The League is still dominated by big men. You can win with a guard being your best player, but you still need all-star quality bigs.

How many rings do Tim Duncan and Shaq have? (plus KG has one and Kobe only could win once they had Pau)

It's a good point though.

Name the last team that won a championship without a high level (if not all-star) big man.

How so?  My opinion that the NBA is still about big man is not related?

Are you just try to start something today?  I wouldn't advise it.

We're not quite there yet, but it's moving in that direction. The marketability of guards and the Jordanesque type players has given Stern the incentive to push the league in that direction. The rule changes that take the physicality out of the game are making guards more affective. The way the games are being called guards get every advantage. The less physical the game gets the more affective guards will be.
