The Knicks want to upgrade their point guard spot and also get a quicker, younger power forward than Al Harrington, but it's doubtful they'll get either by next month's trading deadline.

Team president Donnie Walsh is averse to doing anything with Harrington, as long as Jordan Hill is still trying to find his way, while Mike D'Antoni is said to be OK with trading Harrington if he can bring back a guard or forward. In terms of how D'Antoni wants to play, Harrington tends to slow things down at the offensive end and sometimes looks for his own shot too much
.

Maybe Boston trades Glen Davis, Eddie House, Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine

New York trades Al Harrington and Marcus Landry

Harrington would provided much needed scoring certainty of the bench for the Celtics, which they need, as well as a better rebounder

Landry is probably in the same boat as Bill Walker but helps complete the deal

Harrington is still an expiring contract

Davis' immaturity and antics are shipped out of town and the Knicks get a young power forward that will be around for next year and who could develop well as a trailer on D'Antoni's fast break for an open jumper

The rest is just trade fodder to get the deal done

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

This trade gives the Knicks nothing that they were looking for.

I'd love Harrington off the bench but I agree with wdleehi.  Plus we'd be very thin at the guard postions.

I don't think I would say that. TA has been playing OK overall since his return. And D'antoni does have a thing for House. I just think the Knicks could do a lot better if they were going to trade Harrington

I had seen this link before but thought it was worth posting:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/334001-5-trades-proposals-the-celtics-should-consider

Note the first one involves Hinrich which CelticsBlog now has another link to SI with discussions.

Like the first 3 proposals but not so pumped on the last 2.

If we could get Hinrich or Sessions plus Jeffries it would be huge improvement.

It states what the knicks want...and in return we give them 4 opposite pieces... Plus we trade house, allen, scal, and bbd....for harrington? We thought we had a terrible bench before? This puts us at a 7 man rotation with no guards or small forward until marquis gets back... I like Harrington, but yikes dude.

Allen and Scals expirings should be able to net us a good bench player.

Harrington would be a perfect addition for the Cs, but I just don't see how we could get him with the chips we have.

If Harrington had one more year on his contract things would be very different. With his contract expiring, NYK has little reason to make a move.

The way I see things is that Al Harrington isn't a good bench player, he's one of the best bench players in the league

Our major problems when the starters are out of the game are rebounding and scoring

Harrington addresses those points

Also, this trade doesn't have to happen right away

Buyouts will be occurring soon and the trade can be done closer to the deadline when Daniels will be almost back

If the C's could find a way to land Keyon Dooling after a buyout then wouldn't go a long way to solidifying the losses of Allen and Eddie

Rondo/Dooling
Allen/Daniels/Giddens
Pierce/Landry/Walker
KG/Harrington/Williams
Perkins/Wallace

More I think about it the more I kind of like the trade but think New York never does it

Our players combined just don't add up to Harrington

Maybe we can get in a 3 way and get Al. Would love him in Boston. Winning attitude, instant offense, And size. Would love if we could get him. We would really scare everyone.

It would have to be part of something much bigger I would think.  We just don't have the pieces to get a guy like him.  He's expiring and he can play, if traded he'd net a lot more value then what we can offer.
do it

I am definitely in agreement with everyone here. If we can get Harrington off of the Knick's hands, I would do it in a heartbeat. But do we have anything the Knicks want?
