That's right...you read the topic title correctly.

Andre Miller scored 52 points against the Dallas Mavericks.  I'm not sure whether this says more about Andre Miller having a really great night, or Jason Kidd simply not being able to defend any more.

My jaw - literally - dropped when I saw the bulletin on ESPN.com that Andre Miller scored 52 points.  Ridiculous.

I think it's safe to say that Andre Miller scoring 50+ is one thing that will never happen again.

Tony Delk did it too.

How does a guy who sucks at shooting 3's manage to get 52 points though.  How?!

He must have gotten a ton of 3 point plays.

He had 25 points in the fourth quarter.  25!

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
Andre Miller is a good player.  People seem to have forgotten that; folks on here were criticizing Ray Allen for not being able to keep up with Miller, which hardly seemed fair.

Anytime somebody puts up 50, it's a bit of a surprise, but I'm not shocked to see Miller scoring the ball well.

You can look at his shot chart here:

http://espn.go.com/nba/shotchart?gameId=300130006

He had his jumper going tonight; he only made one three, but he had a lot of long jump shots.

Andre's long been one of the most underrated players in the league.

The Sixers assumed Holiday/Lou Williams would easily pick up his production but they have fallen short of his overall impact.

Count me as one of the Andre Miller fans. I remember laughing at the fact that MacMillan was starting Steve Blake over him at the beginning of the season.

I like Andre Miller too, and I agree he seems underrated.  I'm not yet convinced he's a great fit for Portland, though.  Obviously he's come up big for them while Roy's been out and they've dealt with injuries, but he's not the ideal point guard to go alongside Roy.

Also I don't think it underrates Miller to say that scoring 52 at his age and with his lack of a 3 point shot is very surprising / impressive.  Ray Ray scored 51 in the playoffs last season, but that was because of a hot streak on 3s and triple overtime.  Scoring 52 in 1 overtime, including 25 in the fourth quarter, with 1 made 3 and only 7/8 free throws...amazing.

Portland is decimated by injuries, that's the only reason Andre Miller shot 32 times.

I kinda wish Pierce or Ray would take maybe 22 shots and see how we fair.

Andre is a PG abuser, he knows the game so well, and I'm a big fan but not as big as I was surprised when I saw 52!!

He could have scored 35 and I would have been very impressed.  Andre is a good player but he is one of the last players I would guess to score over 50.  He's more consistent than explosive.  I would have guessed Bayless or Fernandez over him.  Aldridge too, on the depleted team they have.

It's pretty cool to watch Miller continually blow past guys who are much quicker than he is.  He is a little Steve Nash-ish in this respect, but he uses more strength.

:'( :'( :'(  I made a trade for Miller in my roto league this week, but we only set our lineups once a week, so he was on my bench!

(fantasy rant over)

Yup

Just watched this game, or Q4 and OT1. Impressive. I like Portland. They got a solid bench, without people that are overly specialized. Made me think about our bench;

Tony freakishly athletic but turnover prone, Baby great at boxing out but bad at finishing in traffic, House great at 3p shooting but only if ran off screens... We look over-specialized when compared to other teams, imo.
