Someone other than Paul Pierce playing basketball would be a start.

  • Rondo = Good
For the first time in the past 2 months all 5 of our starters will need to have a good game.  Plus Kobe will need to jack up about 30 shots and makes fewer than half of them.

Our bench can still be putrid because their bench is pretty awful too.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

With the way the Lakers have played Rondo in the past, if Rondo actually wants to take that jumper and is on, we can pretty much score on them. Fisher will probably try to check Ray Allen and Kobe will play on Rondo and roam.

Gasol looks shaky off of a hammy pull so that will be the matchup of the gimpy. Bynum struggles against other legitimate centers so I trust Perk will keep his production down.

I just hope Doc can do a nice subbing pattern and limit the effects that Shannon Brown and Odom will have. I am terrified of Odom vs. our bench bigs. Might want Scal to be honest.

House has hurt the Lakers in the past.

I think we definitely have a chance in this game. You can probably expect a legit performance from the Garden, which has seemed DEAD this year and has to be part of the reason for the struggles there.

jd -- I think the Garden has been dead much of this time this year because of poor games the C's have played there. As a half season ticketholder I have seen many of them and they have been stinkers.

I had season tix last year and went to most of the games. I also saw two games this year in which the team actually played well (against the Raptors) and it just didn't have the same feel as prior seasons. I know that is not a great thing to go off of because it's such a small sample size and I was in a completely different section, but it is just my observations.

I think it's a combo of the season ticket holders selling it to the pink hats and the people who assume the only games that matter are against the Lakers or Cavs and the playoff games.

what will it take for us to beat LA on Sunday?

A coin flip.   Lakers aren't exactly dominating and the Celtics are due.  It's a tossup who wins.

Lakers have been struggling as much as we have? they have 10 losses, we have 15? They are 5 plus games ahead of us and their second best player missed 15-20 games. Celts still may win Sunday, but the Lakers have not been struggling as much as we have.

Meh.  We are due.   Alls I know is... I hope we either beat LA... or get absolutely thrashed by them.  I think an LA curb stomping would at least make it so Ainge didn't have the excuse of "ruining great chemistry" when considering options to upgrade Ray Allen.  I know Ainge doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would let loyalty cloud his decision making, but I seem to think that if he traded Ray in the middle of a 10 game winning streak, he'd get a lot of heat from the Celtic players.   If the Celtics are clearly struggling, maybe it makes a tough decision like upgrading Ray seem more tolerable to the squad.
