I have an imaginary friend visiting from Mars.  He knows alot about basketball, but has never seen an NBA game before. (On Mars they have the MBA, which plays under the interplanetary rules.  The players on Mars are very athletic due to the lower gravity.)

After watching the first part of tonight's game, my friend asked me two questions:

1. Why is Rajon Rondo an All-Star but not Jamal Crawford?

2.  Where did they get these officials?  Is this some kind of joke?

  • You know my methods, Watson.
And why is that pudgy redhead wearing an NBA uniform?

The man from Mars also wants to know how anyone can think the team wearing green can be considered a legitimate contender for the NBA championship.

Forgive me if I don't seem to be taking 'Marvin Martian's' concerns about the Celtics seriously; the NBA season is 82 games long, and without a fully-healthy KG we won't be able to win a playoff series against teams that have all improved during the off-season. Unfortunately, this stretch of games might be revealing that to us in a very unpleasant fashion.

Just relax. After I read the topic I actually watched some looney-tunes before responding. Believe me, it helps - not trying to borrow from Phil Jackson's 'zen philosophy', but if you'll remember Michael Jordan didn't need Phil Jackson's help in order to defeat the Monstars in 'Space Jam'. ;)

Well, I think you'd tell him that championships aren't won in January, and that a short time ago (yes, this season) the Celtics were the most dominant team in the NBA.  After being provided a little perspective, hopefully the martian will take a deep breath and calm down.
