I know there have been several variations of this trade posted already but i'm gonna try and make the case why this is the best deal for this year and beyond.

This is all predicated on GS wanting out from under maggette's contract and that they want to free up as much cap space as possible for this summer.

to GS
t. allen, scal, house. all expiring worth roughly $9 million.

to boston
maggette, morrow and randolph.

GS gets contract flexibility and replacement parts for the rest of this years lottery drive.

we get
-maggette, gives us the big SF 6th man we need. he will get to the line, get rebounds, score in bunches and take a lot of pressure off of pierce. he and danials should mesh well in the second unit.

-Morrow is a 3 pt sharpshooter. he will more than make up for houses offensive output. will spread the floor for danials and maggette.

-randolph is injured but should return in time to get some practice in before playoffs. plus he is BEASTLY, supper competitive, supper athletic BEAST. he will pair well with perk for years after the KG era.

While we have to take on maggette's long contract the contract situation as a whole is set up nicely.  morrow's expires the same time as allen and randolph the same time as pierce.

Morrow will get a dress rehearsal to see if he could take over major minutes from allen. with allen taking a pay cut we could afford to sign both.

Randolph will demand a big contract but if pierce takes a hometown discount we should be able to resign both. if for some unforeseeable reason pierce decides to end his career some where else, we slide maggette into the starting spot.

finally maggette's contract ends the year after KG and would be valuable as a trade piece to bring back the final piece.

this years line up:
rondo, danials
allen, morrow
pierce, maggette
KG, davis, randolph
perk, sheed
Who would this group loose to?

year 2
rondo, ?
morrow, allen
pierce, maggette
KG, randolph
perk, sheed

year 3

rondo, ?
Morrow, allen?
maggette, pierce?
Randolph, KG
Perk (resigned?), sheed

all in all this trade improves us markedly this year and sets us up nicely for years to come.

and i really, really want a randolph to get here and study under KG for a few years.

thanks for reading

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Golden State would never do this.

agreed...as much as we'd love this deal, if you were a warriors fan you'd cringe at this and demand the powers-that-be get fired instantly.

Why not?
who else is going to take maggette (or radmonovic) without demanding young talent back.
they will have to give up either ellis, curry, morrow, randolph or b wright to rid themselves of maggette.

at this point all GS wants to do is shed contracts and field a full team for the rest of the year. we offer replacement parts, expiring deals and a better shot at the lottery.

They're gonna take our (for lack of a better term) scraps and give us Maggette, Morrow, and Randolph??

There'a no way they would give up all three (even 2 of them) in a deal like this.

  • Rondo = Good
I'd love for us to trade to get Randolph and might not even mind getting Maggette if the money worked out but we're not going to get both of them and Anthony Morrow (who the Warriors value highly I believe).

yes morrow is a stretch

still, there will be lots of teams looking to shed salary and few willing to take on long term deals.

washingon has jamison and butler for sale.
philly has iggy, dalembert and brand
sacramento has noccioni and martin
GS has maggette and radmonovic and ellis
utah wants out from under boozer
toronto wants to get something for bosh before he jets this summer
pheonix is roumored to want stoudemire gone.
likewise, chicago is perpetually looking to trade heinrich and salmons is now rumored to be on the block.
go ahead and add detroit, indi, sota, ny and the clips to the sellers list

who's looking to buy?
memphis, the nets, cleveland, dallas, portland, LA and the C's.

the nets and blazers have young talent to send back. dallas has howard everyone else has expiring "scraps".

so its a buyers market. there will be a few teams upgrading for next to nothing, i hope the c's are one of them.
