I remember reading Men's Fitness sometime last year and the article mentioned that KG would do a workout a few hours before the game just to get his blood pumping:

In fact, Garnett gets in a total body lifting workout a few hours before every game, hitting all of his muscle groups just to get the blood pumping.

How crazy is this?? I think that it probably has had an effect on him over the years and led him to reach some kind of saturation.

I would like to think that the only beneficial physical activity before a game would be stretching, shooting around and even yoga (as long as it did not take the aggressiveness from the players).

I personally hope that KG has given up this practice since last year's injury. On a side note, I know that Kobe worked out after Game 1 of the NBA finals but that's just Kobe ...

What are your thoughts?

Charles Oakley used to do very intense workouts before games. He wanted to be covered in sweat before games so he was fully ready physically from the opening tip off. Oakley felt it helped him get his energy + intensity right for the contest.

Some players are just like that. Others like to take it easier before games. Everyone is different, find the routine that suits them best.
