There are 15 teams in the NBA who have payrolls over 15 million dollars.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean.

You think those teams, a lot of whom are lousy, are thinking, "We need to go deep into the playoffs to make a profit!" Only two teams are going to the championship. Even good teams, who don't make it to the championship, play an average of what--6 or 7 home games?

Each additional home game results in millions for the team. That's extra money they get just for postseason performance. Regular season attendance and merchandising is important, but most of those tickets are already sold or will be sold because we have a playoff team.

By advancing deep into the playoffs is the best way to maximize the team's revenue.

Now playing shell games with KG's knee may be done for a lot of reasons, but I doubt revenue is one of them.

Do people suggest we just blow it up? Because we'd have to trade Pierce and ray, since KG's contract would be untradeable if he were truly done.

I think Ainge is doing the right thing because path b is an extreme and path a could still bear some fruit.

I have no doubt that if Ainge could get a deal in place for any player on the Celtics that he thinks would make the team better long term while keeping this years window open, he would pull the trigger.


But what real deal has been out there?  Ellis?  Wasn't it reported that Rondo was required to make a move?  That's a step backwards.
