Orlando is our next opponent who we have beat off/on with and without KG.We play the Hawks on a back to back and they are the team we need KG to play at a high level and probably more minutes. In my opinion, this is the time for Doc to either rest KG aganist Orlando or use Sheed more and KG less.KG has had a slight limp here/there which tells me his minutes should be managed even closer...with the Lakers coming to Boston on Sunday is reason #3 Doc should be wiser with how he uses him,any thoughts?

Resting KG is not the answer right now.  He needs to continue to build up strength in his leg, and building up his stamina.  And these next three opponents are games where we need KG more than ever, since they all have long, athletic PF's, who would kill Wallace, and anyone else on the roster.

Yeah, resting KG is really only useful if the doctors say that playing him too many minutes will aggravate his knee.  If the Doc's say that playing more won't hurt it, there's really no reason to play him fewer minutes.

More importantly, playing KG takes the pressure off everyone.  With him out there, the minutes that Ray and Paul play are a lot less stressful and draining on their bodies.

Unless the Celtics were told that KG shouldn't be playing in back to back games right now, he plays.

But I wouldn't mind if the Celtics decided to blow the doors off these teams so KG (and the other stars) minutes are low.

It's almost February already and KG has yet to play 1000 minutes. It's time to start playing him 33/35 mpg.

Agreed, KG needs to be playing at least 30 minutes a game to get him ready for how much we'll need him in the playoffs.

An occasional game off might not be a terrible idea though.

agree with this or play him 30 minutes for 2 games next game cut his minutes down to 20, with rasheed we can do this if no big is in foul trouble
hey i'm all for sheldon getting 5 minutes a game anyways HE REBOUNDS

Too many minutes aggravates everybody's knees, especially the players with bad ones.  I agree that the occasional day off may be the best option, especially when there are back to back games.  The Spurs have done that with Duncan on occasion.

Shelden would be nice if he didn't have two catchers mitts for hands - worst in the league maybe.  KG's minutes will stay around 35 or less I think the rest of the way.  Will they find him a day off in this upcoming 4 in 5 - I think they might.

This is what im talking about its better to give him a night off here/there. Id rather see Sheed get the bulk of the minutes in Orlando if the team can get off to a good start.I rather see KG fresher for the Hawks game,to give us a better chance from getting swept for the season by them.tp

This next 3 games in 4 nights stretch will tell us a lot about where KG is at this point and where we are as a team.

After the ORL/ATL/LAL games, the Celtics play the Wizards/Heat/Nets. There will be time to rest KG if need be, but i'm with the rest of the guys in that KG needs his minutes, especially the next 3 games.

yes he does have bricks for hands, too bad he does offer some good points besides that, would like him to be our 4th big off bench

He has one above average skill, rebounding, and the rest are significantly below average.  He is a pretty terrible offensive player with some of the worst hands I have ever seen, and his defense has been passable at best, and significantly worse than Davis' defense.
