I thought he was fine and I certainly wouldn't turn off the game because of any announcer. I actually get tired of hearing Tommy with his know it all attitude. I don't need anyone to announce the game for me because I watch it.

It was pretty rough to put up with but I survived.  Just about everyone in the game thread last night had the same complaint.

I agree with the others that Gorman is the glue.  Guy's irreplacable and I hope he's around for a looooooong time.

I prefer Marshall to Tanguay, and Marshall is pretty bad.  Tanguay and Tommy seem to have wierd chemistry.  Tanguay was kissing Tommy's butt the whole night and Tommy was saying things like he'd like to scalp Tanguay, and then blaming him every time a Celtic missed a free throw.  Tanguay spent half the broadcast appologizing to Tommy.
When Ray made a pretty normal move and Tanguay said he didn't know Ray had that in his bag of tricks, Tommy jumped down his throat and said "its because you don't look!"

I was at the game, and noticed that, but what I also found really weird was Gary, Tommy, and Dick Lite were sitting at the opposite side of the court from the other media/stats/pa guys - why was this?

and anyone know what's up with mike?

i actually thought i saw him sitting on his own at the end of the table at the regular side, but i guess not.

They've been doing that for the last two years.  It used to be just where the national guys would sit, but starting last year, Mike and Tommy started sitting there as well.  I think it is connected to them cutting seats off the press table (which also led to Max and Grande being sent up into the corner), in order to add extra courtside seats.

Last night, after 10 horrendous minutes, I tuned into the Clipper feed. It was great. Ralph Lawler is one of the best in the business and Michael Smith referenced Bird so many times, I felt like I was watching the Celtic feed. :)
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

The one good thing is hearing less Heinson.

Tanguay is unfunny, unnatural and uninformed.  His timing was completely off and the vast majority of his commentary contributed nothing to the broadcast.  Most of it, in fact, took something away.  He clearly aggravated Tommy with his lack of knowledge and sychophantic attempts at banter.

My two memories from an auditory experience I'd rather forget:

*Making Craig Smith's 3rd foul a point of emphasis in the middle of the 4th quarter.
*Commenting "these Clippers just won't go away" after the C's extended their 4th quarter lead to 8.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Could be worse like Marshall and Tanguay together. Personally i don't see why either one is employed for Celtics in studio or broadcast. Neither one have the Celtic knowledge or pedigree. I think they should scrape them and start over with some real basketball analyse and personality.

would it be possible for Sean Grande/Cornbread to fill in for the play-by-play/color for TV, and have tanguay/dickerson fill in for radio instead?

Plus he's pretty much a stiff from his voice to his lack of humor.  Even Donny at least has some personality.

I love those guys too. I know they received some heat recently over some misguided or misinterpreted comments, but they are still the best in my opinion (excluding Mike and Tommy of course).
“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

Tanguay was an abomination in this game.  It was actually sad how much you could tell that he wanted Tommy's approval.  Very uncomfortable.

Donny is A-OK in my books, but yes, Tanguay must go.
