Still, it's entirely possible that this phenomenon happens. The problem is that if that's actually the case it's because it also happens pretty often that he has the lowest number.

Using adjusted plus/minus from the last 2 seasons, Tony Allen ranks has the 2nd worst in the team.

Kendrick Perkins has the worst adjusted plus/minus on the Celtics over the past two years? Huh?

That is strange.

In 2007-08, Tony Allen had the third highest adjusted +/- on the Celtics behind KG and Pierce.

With a standard error just as big as his positive score.

While Tony is playing more consistently this year, I don't think this is the best stat to show his improved play and consistency

I really don't think there is one definitive one

But what the stats do hint at is subtle improvements in every category that shows he is playing more within himself as a whole

Less three pointers show he isn't forcing the outside shot

Higher FG% and scoring almost the same points in less shots shows he is probably slashing to the basket and making transition baskets and playing within himself

More assists shows he is playing within the offense and looking for the open man rather than forcing it

More rebounds shows a better effort especially on the offensive boards

More steals shows he is playing better defense

More turnovers shows he's still Tony Allen and not always the smartest player on the court

His total stats are all pretty similar but watching him you can see that he is playing better overall basketball, even if it only means slight tweaks in all his stats across the board

I just don't think any one stat tells the story of Tony Allen this year

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

For a guy who plays three position over the course of a game, yeah Tony is definitely the biggest surprise this season. This is the best time to trade him. His value can't get any higher. If you ship TA along with House, Celtics can get one complete player.

I don't believe in +/- stats for basketball players, but I will say that Tony Allen played one of his best games of the year last night.  If it weren't for his defense on Miller, the C's wouldn't have stood a chance.  I generally knock him down a lot, but I will give him credit for a good job last night.  Now let's see if he can repeat it.

One phenomenon that I'm sure others notice is how much Tony's turnovers stand out.  Not the volume of the turnovers, but for some reason Tony's turnovers stick in my brain.  The other night Tony made a horrible pass for a turnover that I was still thinking about after the game.  Then I looked at the boxscore and Tony had only one turnover that game.  Meanwhile, I noticed that Ray had five turnovers and I could hardly remember any of them.

TP -- without a confidence interval, these stats are useless.  it's like saying someone is getting worse bc their FT shooting "fell" from 75% to 73%, for example.
Celtics fan for life.

No offense, but I feel like you're waiting for TA to fail when he has the ball in his hands so you notice it more.

Meanwhile, people want Ray Allen traded as it is, so it's obvious he's not being overlooked.

Kind of... Actually Tony has been one of my favorite players to watch over his career.  His physical ability is just facinating and for years I kept hoping he'd stay healthy and develop into a star.  Anyway, I really like Tony, but yeah I anticipate turnovers.  A lot of the reason is because I know everyone is going to be criticizing afterword.

In OT last night, I was actually hoping for a nice dunk of some sort from Tony. On the possession before this one(steal by ray and half court pass to open tony for two hand slam) I was watching Tony trying to time a steal from Miller at the top of the key. Tony is playing surprisingly great, and he's logged alot of minutes as the backup PG - which is when I was at first being the most scared and watching and waiting for a turnover. Until Quis comes back, Tony is gold for us. BBD is now my target to trade asap.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Happens pretty often.

Who cares Tony Allen is a walking turnover. He's out of control more often than he's in control.

When he gets the ball, don't you feel like there's a 75% chance he'll drive to the hoop into 3 defenders? That's how I feel,  thus I'm hoping he gets dealt by the February deadline.

His problem is he drives into players for offensive fouls more than he just loses the ball. But hey, that's how Pierce got his 6th foul last night! Let's trade PP too! :D
