Could Rondo end up starting in the All-Star game?

Allen Iverson looks like he is going to win the fan voting to start the All-Star game but he was recently pulled out of the end of an overtime loss to Minnesota while Eddie Jordan nursed his left knee arthritis

Allen has had problems off and on with the knee all year and if that keeps him from playing in the All-Star game or if a sense of conscience comes over him and he decides he doesn't deserve to go and bows out claiming injury, the league would have to name a new starter

Given the lack of a point guard on the starting team and Rondo is obviously the best point guard in the East, does anyone think that Rondo could be named as an All-Star starter

While probably far fetched thinking Iverson would graciously bow out, he is after all a huge egomaniac that thrives off such things as being named an All-Star, deserving or not, I can't help but think that there's at least a possibility he won't play because of his knee and that someone will have to be named

Rondo seems as good a choice as any other given the makeup of the remaining starters

If Iverson is healthy, he'll start. Only if he's injured, the coach of the East All-Stars will be able to replace him. And the coach, if we stay in front of Atlanta and Orlando until Februrary 3, will be none other than... Doc Rivers!

Somehow, I think Iverson is going to do everything in his power to, at least, make an appearance in this all-star game.  He's cleary at the end of his rope so one last appearance in front of a crowd of 40,000 people plus is quite the way to go out on a national stage. 

If he can walk, he'll be out there.  At least for the opening tip.

I agree.  Iverson couldn't care less about the right thing to do, more deserving players, integrity of the game, etc.  He'll want his moment.

Iverson offered his starting spot to Jordan in '02. I don't think he's as me-first as everyone assumes. (Don't get me wrong, he's still very much a selfish basketball player.)

MJ and Rondo are pretty far apart but good point
