Hmmmm...Mayo, or Gay? Both have cheap salaries and can score. Mayo may be too much of a chucker, and Gay might be soft. Opinions?

Mayo still has the potential to be a top 2 piece on a good team...Gay does not.

Disagree.

I'm with KC on this one Gay is the second leading score on the team and averages the most mintues per game to say the Gay dpesnt have potential to be a top 2 piece is just absurd. Gay would be my first pick if I had memphis and not sure who my second would be.

Ha, absurd is a big word to throw at a basketball opinion. I don't think Rudy Gay has the stuff. I think OJ Mayo has the rare complement of drive, leadership, and talent to be a top 2 piece. Gay is having a good year, but will it last?

I'd probably take Marc Gasol and OJ Mayo.

I've watched almost every Grizz game this season and haven't seen OJ Mayo as more of a leader than Rudy. Nor have I seen him have a better competitive motor.

Between the two (Mayo & Gay) who would you say has the...(dreaded word coming)...upside?

Really? I've seen Gay lag in getting back on D a lot more than Mayo, but I've only watched a few games.

I'd agree with that. Also, a lot of what I think about Rudy Gay is still based on a bit of how he played his first 3 years, and in college...so maybe it's grounded in a bit less game time observation than yours. From what I've seen, he doesn't go hard every play, and he has serious lapses on defense. Maybe it's just anecdotal.

Mayo by a hair, simply because he already possesses the ability to score from almost anywhere.  At the same time, Gay has plenty of upside as well - and at above-average size, length and athleticism for the SF position (something Mayo can't claim at his own position - he's athletic, but not big for a 2) he could turn into a heck of a defender and rebounder if he wanted to.

I do think Rudy intensity ebbed and flowed a little his first couple of years in the league, but those Grizzlies teams were horrible and as a young and immature player he didn't focus as much as he should. Before this year, I worried that Rudy would be hurt  by the amount of scoring options on the team. Instead, he has improved his shooting percentage while scoring more per game than ever before. Also, his defense has been a lot better this year, as exemplified by his performance in the second half against LeBron earlier this year.  Do i think Rudy is the number one on a championship team? No. Is Rudy a viable number 2? Yes.

Gotta say, I'm lovin' my "Keepers" ... Carmelo and Chauncey have to be close to the number one "One-Two" punch top scoring pair in the league ... they're averaging very close to 50 points per game between them, (also about $28M in salary, too, unfortunately). Don't think I'll be trading either. ;)

Gay. Mayo is limited at the 2 because he's 6'4"-- and not a particularly athletic 6'4"-- and he's not a point guard.

Who saved Indiana?

The question is, Who wants to save Indiana?

Granger and Hibbert available.

Hibbert is really developing a nice low post game.  He just needs to muscle up abit, so he can bang with the likes of the Bynums, Duncans etc.

Granger is an all-star quality player who is really working on his defensive game.  Hard worker.  Suit your team?

I think Granger is better than a all-star quality player. I think he is close to a top 10 player in the league. And to think if Indiana had decided to pick Gerald like a lot of people thought they would Granger could be wearing green now.

I think there are a few possibilities at #1.

I know Pierce isn't on the top 3 of my big board.
