Depending on his cost, Nate is just what this lethargic, disintersted, non-entertaining current Celtics team needs.

Say what you want about Nate, but he brings high energy, enthusiasm and showmanship to the game. Yah, I know,Nate is all about Nate, but that's on the Knicks. This veteran team will keep him in line. But better than that, he will keep our leader in waiting, RR, in line.

Practices will have Nate challenge Rajon regularly. Rondo needs that. Did you see Rondo's effort yesterday. If he does that again, Doc pulls him and sticks in Nate who will be uber motivated to upstage him. Rondo will respond, and they will push each other to higher levels. Nate will bring intensity and keep RR on his toes regularly.

I would hope this is what would happen, but who knows.  Danny will do his homework on Nate.

I hate Nate Robinson with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns.

That said, TP for making a coherent and rational argument for why we should want him on the team.

I don't know. I was against bringing Nate because of his selfish reputation and the fact that he can be uncoachable, and hurt his team.

With that said... our bench desperately needs some offensive firepower. The guy, even if he is undersized, can score in a lot of ways, and he shoots the ball very well. Plus he can get crazy and score 20 points in a row.

But it probably would mean the end of Eddie House, and I don't like that at all. Eddie is too valuable for this team. And I don't see how the two could play together due to their limited heights.

However, Nate would be a good addition to fill our need of a scorer off the bench, and his contract expires this summer so it would be great for our financial situation but... I have big doubts.

Well, regardless of my personal feelings toward Nate Robinson, Danny thinks he would fit here, so I guess that's all that matters.

I don't think Rondo needs competition in practice to keep him motivated, though.  In fact, a cocky jerk like Robinson is the type of player that might get under Rondo's skin, and have an effect contrary to the one predicted.

We should have traded for Zach Randolph if the team can straighten out these head cases.

Rondo would be more likely to be injured in practice than in a game.

Since when is Nate a point guard?  He may guard Rondo in practice but he would not be Rondo's backup--he is more Eddie like except he gets his points in a variety of ways.

If Nate can't be gotten, then we need to go after Dooling

This fixes our holes and gets the old legs off the floor so playoff time won't be as grueling.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I don't see Nate having a positive impact on Rondo's game.

A good backup point guard who plays defense, runs the offense, moves the ball and controls the tempo could help Rondo some but I don't see a shot happy, poor defensive guard point guard doing so.

Hey Who, While I agree that Nate's game doesn't compliment Rondo's game very well, nor vice versa, I don't think that they will be on the floor together very often (too many defensive matchup issues). Nate's best pairing would be with TA or Marquis.

Our guy Rajon needs to be pushed on a regular basis. He thrives on competition and usually plays his best games when challenged. Nate's presence and challenging him in practice (and Nate will be in his face)will push RR and he will rise to the challenge. He needs to be shaken up as does our whole team attitude and disinterest. Too much complacency and too much taken for granted by this team lately.

No, he doesn't. He's really stepped up his game since the injuries (including his own) began.

On the other Nate Robinson thread ... Chris Duhon was mentioned as a possibility to trade for.

While I don't think Nate Robinson would be able to push Rondo in the right directions, due his flaws as a point guard and selfishness ... I do think that Chris Duhon could bring what we're looking for to the table. I think he'd be able to push Rondo, in the right way (defense, ball movement), during practices and games. Help Rondo concentrate on the right areas of his game. Provide solid competition and be a guy that can step in Rondo's shoes if Rondo wasn't doing his job well enough.

I'd be a lot more assured of Duhon having a positive impact on Rondo's performance. Or a point guard like Duhon versus a PG like Nate.

Rondo needs players that can run with him.
