  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Quote from: Boston Herald
He (Cuban) has waged a campaign to overhaul the league’s officiating system, and he was scouting referees’ tendencies long before disgraced former NBA official Tim Donaghy made such charges. Cuban is well aware that the NBA is terribly sensitive to this subject now, and he refuses to get deeply into the issue. Is he satisfied with where things stand now with officiating? 'No. ... And that’s all I’m going to say about that,' Cuban said. Then a grin creased his face and he added, 'I defer to Tommy Heinsohn.'

Point taken.

That's a hat tip to Tommy's eccentric (homer) announcing style, right? Doesn't seem like he's referencing anything in particular

"You've gotta respect a 15-percent 3-point shooter. A guy
like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

I think it's a reference to Tommy's perpetual complaining of the poor officiating in the league which Cuban must agree 100% with
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

And I think that Cuban and Tommy would both agree that it's not just their teams getting hurt at times by poor officiating.  It's fairly widespread.

Hopefully not referring to the way he dresses.

Sly reference by Cuban there, since anyone who knows basketball knows what Tommy thinks of the officials.

BTW, haven't seen this mentioned around here, so this is as good a place as any to point out that last night Tommy was awarded the first annual Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award.  Like McHale pointed out, Tommy's work founding the Players Association played a huge role in the financial success and rights enjoyed by today's players and the strength of the league as a whole.  Big ups for Tommy.

I really like Mark Cuban because he CARES, he has increased his knowledge of the NBA every year, and he isn't afraid of Stern.

It seems that Cuban has been doing some independent research on the refs, and I'm REALLY hoping that he has data to back up just how bad and biased they are.  It would rock the NBA/news into having to do something about it.

I'm actually surprised Tommy has never been ejected from a game as an announcer!  Anyone old enough to remember his coaching days?  :o
He might be a homer at times but the man's knowledge of nba basketball is amazing.  I understand the reffing is bad overall but honestly I can't help but thing there is a bias towards celtics.
stern  :-X
(wait did i just get fined for that?)

god i love heinsohn as an announcer. he is a such a homer. not even a pretense at being anything but a celtic fan.

if i were the fan of another team i would hate him. but since i love the celtics, i love heinsohn.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Cuban is a punk and I spent half the game telling him so. He spent the WHOLE game working the refs to call traveling and 3 seconds on Perk and Rondo. He calls the refs out by their first name to make a case every time they pass him.

In years past, Cuban would come in and chat with fans, let them take thier picture with him, etc.. In the last few years he is no more a good ole boy and just more of a punk.

Wth was with all the Dallas fans in the crowd last night? I mean lots of Dallas fans, in Beantown??
